germany allows for no gender marker or an x as gender marker and I made an active choice to not do this because this effectively creates a list of trans people for the government. no gender marker for anyone please.
This was barely covered, but the US regime made it harder for people with "X" on their passports to fly. Creating a de facto no fly list of nonbinary and trans people.
People who use they/them pronouns face documented employment discrimination. Is that material enough for you?

Esther Ghey: "It was just that constant pressure of social media and wanting to get those likes. One of the hardest things was learning about what Brianna was accessing online that was encouraging her to self-harm and develop an eating disorder.”

Did 'the pressure of social media' stab Brianna Ghey
Most of us have pathologically useless parents who don't care to learn about protecting us properly, but this dogshit really takes the cake.

if you're worried about online sexual exploitation, first of all, same! removing children's right to refuse PII to strangers is not the answer.

but also ask yourself whether that problem is made better or worse by making it easier for anyone even slightly web savvy to find a child's name & location
"the entire internet should be structured to automatically dox specifically children at every opportunity" is a bad idea actually

this tendency within contemporary liberalism is intimately connected with its aversion to acknowledging past or present colonialism
Liberals are unwilling to admit that there is a form of politics that exists in the world that centers around causing harm for pleasure, destroying things, and looting the rubble, and they're unwilling to admit that this politics has a stranglehold on the right

Nazis don't have 'legitimate concerns'.

They have a bunch of claims they use to gain legitimacy, and recruit and identify members.

The result is that people now view transition as entirely cosmetic, as optional, as a matter of "free expression" that is perhaps unfortunate to curb but not ultimately life-threatening.

Even when describing the danger to trans lives, it's always in terms of suicides. They think we're hysterical.

Hello sorry it’s been brought to my attention that the phrase “Me Too” was not appreciated by Cuomo supporters. I’m not sure what about “Andrew Cuomo Me Too” is getting them so antagonistic but I did change it so now it’s perfect.

The belief that trans people should be discriminated against because they are inherently predatory, as opposed to the cis strangers that parents allow their children to share a bathroom with, is in fact a crystal clear example of anti-trans bigotry (and mirrors other forms of bigotry, I might add)
Just because folks don't want people who were not born to the sex they want to be to not be allowed into the bathroom of their choice does not mean they are anti- trans. It means they are just not comfortable with you being in their with their precious children as how do they know what your doing.

I've been reading Leslie Feinberg's Stone Butch Blues this week, and through it all one thought has kept coming to me: A few years ago this would have been a historical novel, the emotion would have been "Thank god we moved past this." Now it feels a chilling vision of the future.
I hate this place
Labour has decided it must be the most transphobic party because Keith cares more about implementing unpopular bullshit than he does about retaining power.
🚨 BREAKING | Labour is set to impose a sweeping ban on trans people using any "single-sex space".

In EHRC guidance that Labour is set to approve, trans people will be barred from accessing toilets, gyms and changing rooms that match their gender.

I'm glad this specifically names and discusses the mechanisms of societal transmisogyny and harsh policing of transfemininity under patriarchy, which results in transfems staying closeted for longer. While the number of trans men and women are roughly equal, trans women tend to come out later.
Critics claim gender clinics are seeing an excess of trans boys. But new data suggest otherwise
Some claim ‘social contagion’ is driving teenagers who were assigned female at birth to identify as transgender and seek medical care.

Every day is simultaneously like "esteemed liberal college doesn't even bother with court battle, agrees to pay trump umpteen billion and hunt trans women with drones" and "locals send ICE agents scurrying away in fear, save 100 people from deportation."

Which side are you on, y'all?
Seeing institution after institution fold to fascism like wet cardboard while communities otg wage serious and meaningful resistance just confirms why I'm an anarchist and always will be.

We need far more of the latter, of course, but what's already happening is cause for hope.

I think it's important to note the audience for this isn't really cisgender LGB people (who polling tells us overwhelmingly favor trans rights) but is meant to serve as a permission structure for a broader audience to abandon trans rights while still claiming they're "liberal"
This is Bari Weiss's trans rights reporter

it is impossible to return to a precapitalist past. the world has been eaten up too much. in fact, it is impossible to return to the 20th century. there is no returning. there is no salvation in idealizing the past. we can only take our history with us to build a future we seek

You can't defend gore, violent, gruesome media without defending sex and erotic media. Both go hand in hand, there's eroticism in the grotesque, theres horror in the sensual. Your "purity" about sex won't save you if you think making war is better than making love

It's an inherently bad idea to put age restrictions on arbitrary sections of the internet, but if they insist on doing it, putting the onus on individual websites to verify the ages of every UK-based visitor is clearly completely unworkable.

Like the idea one can’t change sex is just transphobic full stop
I think we should actually consider the idea of “you can change your gender but not sex” as just straight up transphobia, gender essentialism and frankly, sexism
spare us from the cis allies who are always like "nobody saying that you can change your sex" and "we're talking about gender not sex, they're very different." stop it.

"it's for kids turn your brain off have fun" is not only anti-intellectual and anti-education, it's against the idea that children have interiority and are growing people learning about the world. miyazaki's films are so beloved for instance because they're films aimed at children that respect that.

When "Gender Critical" people say "you can't change sex" it's (obviously) not an observation. It's a demand. Hence why they can't ever justify it beyond just saying it again
