The Insurrection Act is not "martial law." It doesn't displace civilian law, it doesn't suspend habeas corpus, it doesn't alter or suspend state and local government, and it doesn't make anything newly illegal. It allows using the military to enforce existing law, it doesn't change what the law is.

I've always taken quality and accuracy of US data for granted, but I'm afraid that may have gone out the window. It looks like there's a structural break in the CPI data after the missing month of October 2025. Has inflation really slowed? I'm not sure...

Although direct talks with Putin remain hypothetical, the fact that the Commission publicly says it's open to them is a remarkable policy shift in and of itself.
