My essay collection First Love came out one year ago today! Female friendship! Obsession and codependency and love that might be friend love or might be romantic! Found family! Helping each other through loss, raising each other's babies! bookshop.org/a/1925/97805...
Alternate universe where the Spice Girls stayed together through the breakup like Fleetwood Mac, and Scary and Ginger just wrote increasingly scathing songs about each other for the group to record

Any one of those 150 unlawful actions is impeachable. To NOT demand impeachment in the same breath as you talk about his unlawful actions normalizes them.

If you are a constituent of Rep. Houlahan @houlahan.house.gov, please call her office today and urge her to file Articles of Impeachment today.
Houlahan points out that courts have found Trump has taken at least 150 unlawful actions since re-taking office, "so yes, those kinds of things are going on. Just because you are the president doesn't mean everything that comes out of your mouth is lawful."

How many times do we have to prove that giving money to poor people improves their lives
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

Getting dressed when it’s gonna be near freezing always makes me think of Felicity’s elaborate American Girl undergarments… remember the pockets that went on separately under her dresses? So many layers, so many steps

?? It’s rats leaving a burning building, looking for the next pile of trash to snuggle under.

Y’all love trying to force a redemption arc on the most heinous of people and that’s part of why we’re in this moment in time in the first place
I'd be really curious if someone better versed in feminist theory wrote about what's happening on the right. Because between Greene, Mace, and Bobert, we've got this bloc forming of women who seem tired of serving a patriarchy of sex criminals. And their rhetoric is starting to lean that direction.
Marjorie Taylor Greene: "I was called a traitor by a man that I fought for 6 years for. I gave him my loyalty for free. I've never owed him anything. Let me tell you what a traitor is -- a traitor is an American that serves foreign countries."

Anything we can do to make his day a little worse is worthwhile
People are like “more Epstein dirt won’t change anything so it doesn’t matter” and I think those people are missing the very obvious fact that Trump really hates when people talk about this or when it’s in the news, like it drives him nuts, it makes him unhappy, and that’s good in itself

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

Everything he says sounds more and more like the kind of shit you hear someone screaming on the subway while everyone studiously avoids eye contact with them
Look, if someone tells you "There's actually only one way (to solve poverty) and that's with the Optimus robot..." They are a crazy person and you should get away from them.
This passage puts Musk's arrogance and moral blinders on full display. At DOGE, Musk destroyed USAID and weakened other part of the compensatory state that have been shown to effectively address poverty. Yet here he babbling about robots and "wild sci-fi scenarios" as the "only way" to do so.
