My eternal pet peeve with the world right now: Front end height is the largest determinant of pedestrian death by a significant factor. These things kill people for no reason.

There is no magic thing you can do with modern vehicles, that we weren't doing in smaller vehicles in the 90s. Nothing.

I will not support this bill that completely fails to help Americans afford their health care.

Trump and R’s have more than doubled Americans’ health care premiums, and for 40 days they have refused to lift a finger to do a thing about it. In fact, they’ve made it worse by taking food from kids.

Minority Whip Katherine Clark puts out a stinging statement on the senate deal. "A GOP budget that spikes health care premiums and everyday costs to fund tax cuts for billionaires is a grave betrayal of everyday Americans. That was true in July. It was true in September. And it remains true today."

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Does anyone know, in this deal that has been struck, what the status is on backdoor abortion bans and access to trans healthcare?
Senate update: Republicans are now trying to sneak a backdoor national abortion ban into their government funding bill. Republicans will stop at nothing to control women's health care decisions.

There’s no one I trust less than Donald Trump and Mike Johnson.

Any deal that relies on Republicans to keep their word is a bad one.

Democrats can’t give up on affordable health care for an empty promise. Minnesotans can’t afford for Democrats to cave.

My kids have measles and my SNAP benefits were cut. But at least those cashiers at Walmart aren’t writing “they/them” on their name tags anymore.

Well the cutie is pretty pissed about the mayor, but very excited for @amberforparks.bsky.social and @kayforparks.bsky.social
This cutie was very insistent about coming to vote with me today! She is very passionate about the Minneapolis Park Board 🤣

This is incredibly important:

we must frame tonight as a resounding victory — an electoral landslide, a mandate from the universe itself

and as a repudiation of MAGA, of Trump, and of vichy democrats

we must be relentless, we must not shut up

I’m asking everyone to vote for a new Mayor by Tuesday and rank all 3 of Omar Fateh, Dewayne Davis, and Jazz Hampton in whichever order you prefer. I’ve worked at City Hall for the last 4 years and from my personal experiences I believe the City desperately needs a new mayor.

Long thread 🧵

Platner is not a victim of opposition research. This is what happens when you run for federal office. People scrutinize everything you’ve ever done. Every word and every action. Accountability does not exist in playing the victim of your own behavior.

The Republican health care plan is about as real as Santa Claus.
COLLINS: If the government reopened tonight, would Republicans have a plan to address the Obamacare subsidies?

MIKE JOHNSON: Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. We do. We have proposals. Yeah. We can have that ready immediately.

Pro-tip: if you're ever trying to figure out who *not* to vote for, check out the lawn signs posted outside apartment buildings. As a general rule, it's safe to assume that landlords and I have different policy objectives.
