where are people getting the idea that its either "supporting trans rights" or "continuing democracy". what kind of democracy do they want to live in. where "politically inconvenient" groups get thrown to the wolves every two to four years? doesnt sound good to me. why would you want that

A major newspaper publishing guide to help people identify the munitions their government is using against them is a real "Late Republic America" timepeice that future historians will comment on.
Here's how to identify some crowd control munitions, canisters of which federal agents have left on the ground after deploying them against people in Minnesota. bit.ly/3YWp1jE

we didn't finish denazification. we didn't finish desegregation. we didn't finish reconstruction. every opportunity for transformative change was deliberately sabotaged by american leaders who knew their wealth would not survive a world freed from eugenics, white supremacy, and war profiteering.

At the end of the day, the Black Lives Matter era was about whether people should be killed in the street, and lots of people decided yeah and put those little blue flags on their cars. It spread to everyone because it stopped for no one.

They like cops so much that all we’re getting is cops. No roads, no bridges, no school funding, no culture money, just a bouquet of different types of cops

Police do not have a legal responsibility to protect the public. This was established in Town of Castle Rock v. Gonzales (2005). Given this, and the tremendous harm they do every day, what possible argument could one give for not abolishing the institution of policing entirely?

Look I know this is going to be hard here but rigid adherence to lies about Covid is going to push you to the right. It has to. The eugenicist ideas that we can abandon the vulnerable and that vaccine mandates and lockdowns weren’t necessary because only “those people” died can never be democratic.
NEW: This week, Daily Show host Jon Stewart introduced his audience to Jenin Younes, describing her as a courageous civil rights attorney who had been canceled by both the right and left and therefore “must be doing something right.”

Really, she spent years undermining public health—and Democrats.

Here is a video of a frozen creek that had begun to thaw, and the water was flowing beneath the thin ice on top. I took this because it was soothing and wonderfully bloopy and I wanted to listen to it for hours. You are all welcome to enjoy it, too. Let your brain settle here and rest for a moment.

You've likely heard that things can get worse, but did you know that things can also get better? Shocking, but true!

What lies ahead is vague and uncertain. That sounds spooky, but it could involve a lot of cuddles. Maybe laughing with friends. We just don't know!

Those of you who still insist on drawing a distinction between ICE and police should be aware that the police are not drawing that distinction.
Thank you for telling us you neither serve nor protect. Thank you for saying the quiet part out loud. That was state murder in broad daylight, captured from multiple angles by multiple witnesses, and the people of Minneapolis have eyes.

You support murder.

Honestly "prosecute the current administration" doesn't go far enough. Do what should have been done in 2008. Lots of war criminals just walking around, still getting away with it, into old age. No reason we have to stop with the most recent batch
This is why you prosecute the Bush administration officials for the torture program

It's so fucking convenient that they get to "fear for their lives" anytime they want to absolve themselves of anything and when we actually fear for our lives because of them and do anything a scared person would do it's justification for our death.

There are moments the mask is removed, and all the lies evaporate. This quote by a District Attorney in California is incredible. He says the volume of shackled poor people brought to court--what he calls the "cattle call"--makes it impossible to consider them as individuals.

Far Right's commitment to always stanning history's biggest losers will never not surprise me.
Far-right groups are co-opting the aesthetics of the Crusades for their own objectives, transforming an obsession with feudal justice into a campaign for a White Christian nation.
Why We Should All Be Worried About "Crusadercore"
This online trend equips young, White men with a historically bastardized visual lexicon — one that gives new credence and religious authority to far-right bigotry.
