Why decline all these chances to defend feminism? Because to participate would be accepting the premise that our rights and humanity are up for debate in the first place.

Once you’ve conceded that it’s reasonable to ask whether women’s equality was a mistake, you’ve already lost.

Once you see it it becomes impossible not to notice the media consent-manufacutring machine that responds to literally every social crisis with the diagnosis that "women too free."
My sense is that the “male loneliness crisis” is not really about addressing men’s emotional needs but rather the relatively newfound absence of having someone to perform domestic labor for you quietly in the background now that there is a longer gap between your mother and your wife doing it

Other than the science free nature of it all, perhaps the least surprising part of the admin’s new claim is the onus it puts on pregnant women. Dying of fever? Deal with it. In severe pain? Deal with it. Child has autism? It’s because you were weak, and if you say it wasn’t, you’re a liar. We know.

"It's so confusing isn't it? So much going on, so much to say, and all of it happening so quickly.

The pace of oppression outstrips our ability to understand it and that is the real trick … It's easier to hide behind forty atrocities than a single incident."

People have embraced authoritarianism in large part because they've been sold individualistic explanations for social problems. If you think people are poor or unhoused because they've made "bad choices," then you'll see appeal in authoritarian leaders who promise to punish those who are "bad."

If we want men to be less lonely, we should start by socializing them in boyhood to be part of a shared project of care. Give them dolls, toy kitchens, and tea sets. Ask them to help care for younger children. Expect them to clean up after themselves. Let them feel the work and value of care. 1/
When I see people complain about male loneliness, it is so painfully OBVIOUS to me that most of these lonely men are men who feel entitled to a woman who does that labor for them, who acts as their agent enmeshing them into community through unpaid pro-social labor on their behalf.

This isn't about protecting children. It's about policing a gender system that puts everyone in a pink box or a blue one, that gives people higher social value if they're pinker or bluer than their box-mates, and that puts the whole pink box below the blue.
🚨By a 6–3 vote, the Supreme Court UPHOLDS Tennessee's ban on gender-affirming care for minors, concluding that it does NOT discriminate on the basis of sex, is not subject to heightened scrutiny, and survives rational basis review. All three liberals dissent. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

If he’s following Jordan Peterson he thinks he deserves to.

Worry less about whose photos he’s liking and more about which podcasts he’s listening to. The woman in the bikini isn’t telling him to kill you.

A lot of Americans don't actually care much about policy, because they don't trust government to solve their problems. Instead, they just want someone to blame when they're struggling. And the GOP gives them scapegoats in spades.
I think we're seeing what happens when one side builds a coalition around collective outrage, and the other side mistakes the appeal of collective outrage for the appeal of particular policies.

The only way to keep your footing in a time of constant gaslighting is to approach every action with the question, “who benefits from this?”

Sure, MAGA gets a kick out of doing shit just to hurt people, but cruelty on its face doesn’t always make money.

Every action. Ask who benefits.
