Authoritarian personality types feel stronger emotions usually with regard to "the other" and marked by fear/disgust, and as such they "feel" that authoritarian personalities are the normal in an instinctual way and the natural order of things; that nature operates from a top down hierarchy.

The fed is trying to whack Trump with a stick using interest rates to discourage him from blacking out various economic reports in the future. Probs more political than they would like, but then again he's going after fed chairs directly already.

a guy who worked on The Apprentice once told me he thought Trump might be the most evil person on earth, this was 2015, and I thought he was comically exaggerating (he said he was serious) and every new day proves that he was right

John Wilkes Booth kinda won. Assassinating Lincoln put Andrew Johnson in office who was sympathetic to the confederacy and went soft on Reconstruction and now we’re still fighting many of those battles from 150 years ago.

My fav meta moment is still in No Country for Old Men in the intro the VO mentions a judge who was killed which is a ref to a real life event with Woody Harrelson’s dad, and Harrelson is in the movie, so in the movie’s world there’s a real Woody as a kid out there as fake adult Woody is being shot

This is a bit like how the Cosby allegations only finally stuck once the first generation to not grow up with him came of age. There’s never been a lot of love from people too young to remember Bill Clinton in even the best of times.
That those luminaries are a decade more distant from political power I think improved the House's thinking. Making Obama & Clinton people look bad in 2025 hits a lot different than in 2015
honestly my estimation of House Democrats has grown a little bit from the fact that they were clearly eager to leak this *entire* trove of emails even though they would damage or ruin the reputations of a bunch of Democratic Party luminaries who are in the emails

If had to sum up my life philosophy, what I hoped to achieve or what drives me, it would be to hang out with cool people and work on stuff that interests me. Like, that’s it. That’s all. And sadly you have to be kind of well off to do that, which is kinda wild, really.

Man, the "smartest" people in the world sure are dumb. Social media really burst that millennia long illusion of success = merit. Even a cynic like me is surprised at how dumb they are behind closed doors. The world is really run by smart assistants and clerks, same as it ever was.
