So the Israeli government approves of boycotting and divesting to signal their displeasure with an organization’s conduct?!?! Good to know.

Matt Gaetz's withdrawal demonstrates a) again that fascism's first lie is inevitability; it's not. b) the struggle is long; obviously, this isn't over. c) the wild instability of weaponized narratives. The Right developed "groomer," which made legible behavior that Gaetz was hardly first to pursue.

So . . . He had resigned his seat in the 118th Congress after the announcement even though he had been reelected to his seat. Will he be allowed to be seated in the 119th Congress, or will his District have to go through the process of a Special Election? And if they do, will he run?

[Reproducing my most viral post] When discussing Universal Basic Income, inevitably the retort comes: "So you just want people to not have to work, is that it?" Accompanied by a smug smirk, expecting me to backpedal and hem and haw, say "Of course not, that's silly." Except...yes. Yes, I do. 1/11

Long THREAD 🧵- RE: cis people who feel the need to mourn when someone comes out as trans

As a therapist, I understand that change can be a big adjustment for people & that people need to acknowledge those feelings to move forward

Mourning/grieving a gender identity isn’t that:

Totally the rules! DO IT!
You see it, you share it. Them's the rules.
The Other Place had a number of traditions which hopefully will make it over to BlueSky. On an entirely unrelated note, I saw this, and had to share. ☔😄

This. I've seen similar about how people who knit or crochet are destroying the world. Because yes there's issues with the manufacturing of literally everything. It's interesting to me that it's so often focused on hobbies women have, and finding new ways to devalue and stigmatise them. 🧶

Here's a longer piece I wrote that talks about Skrmetti and what the Court should do to protect trans people because the Constitution demands it.

Here's One Thing the Constitution Could Do to Protect Trans People
The equal protection clause of the Constitution must respond to the rabid anti-trans sentiment in the country. If it cannot, it is worthless.

The post and the article both bury the lede, though - there wouldn't have even been the option for arbitration if the position that Sleiman was fired from hadn't been a UNION one.

Critical thinking skills lead to questioning, after all.
The most powerful movement in American politics right now is dedicated to making sure that everyone who is not already rich gets dumber, sicker, and poorer in the future. The euphemisms are already by the wayside; it's basically text, not subtext, that kids today are learning way too much stuff.

A library that does this violates the core precepts of the free public library as spelled out in Ranganathan’s Five Laws. It violates four of them:

1 Books are for use.
2 Every person their book.
3 Every book its reader.
4 Save the time of the reader.

A complete disgrace. 📚

Lots of people saw the pin and bought one, resulting in the pin’s maker donating £18,000+ to a UK LGBTQ+ homeless charity.
