In the budget reconciliation bill, House Republicans are trying to cut SNAP by $295 billion. This would cut it in third in what would be by far the largest SNAP cut in history.

This would rip food assistance away from millions of people, including households with children as young as 7 years old.

The persistent claim is that there are so-called "able-bodied" people on Medicaid, and that this is a mistake (they “should never have been on the program”), or worse, “fraud”.

This is a mischaracterization of the goals of the current Medicaid program

Medicaid debate: Focus on "able-bodied" Medicaid recipients is aimed at scaling back Obamacare
In the Medicaid debate now raging on Capitol Hill, there is a great deal of confusion about basic facts about the Medicaid population. Some of it stems from mischaracterization of those on Medicaid.

The House just passed its budget resolution, so reconciliation is now officially underway. This is their bill to destroy Medicaid and SNAP while cutting taxes disproportionately for the rich.

THIS IS VERY REAL and can be enacted even if all Ds vote no.
