Many weird sci-fi concepts and contrivances in Death Stranding make more sense once you realize they're not just there for weird story purposes, but to make the gameplay interesting and convenient without breaking the glossy presentation they love so much. MGSV had a lot of stuff like that too.

Cairn having a trophy for the situation where you're losing your grip, try to screw a piton into the wall in a panic but fail and fall to your death... did genuinely take the sting out of losing about a half hour of progress and teach me some important lessons. But man, it's gonna sting next time.

Grabbed Cairn on PS5, only an hour in so I haven't reached any real challenge, but man, the climbing is just... so mesmerizing and meditative, to me. I think I'm really gonna like it.

There's a lot I'm coming to like about Death Stranding, especially now I've got the bike. But one of the top moments has to be getting caught unarmed by a bunch of bandits, wondering "hey, I wonder if I can smack them with a cargo box" and finding out it's a one-hit KO at the cost of breaking it.

Re-starting Death Stranding after falling off it a few hours in many years ago, and it is giving my brain just the right chemicals right now. Also, like MGSV, you can actually skip through the opening hours and get to the game much more effectively than you'd think for Kojima.
