As always, a very good explainer by @stevevladeck.bsky.social on Justice Jackson's administrative stay.

#SNAP
If you’re trying to catch up on what went down with #SNAP late last night at #SCOTUS, here’s my attempt to read the breadcrumbs on the “administrative stay” issued by Justice Jackson—and why a justice so critical of the Court’s grants of emergency relief to Trump still granted temporary relief here:
190. SNAP WTF?
A very quick explainer on why Justice Jackson issued an "administrative stay" in the SNAP case late on Friday night, and on what's likely to happen next

New Jersey polls are open until 8pm. Don't forget, if you're in line at 8pm, stay there! You can still vote.

Also, hearing anecdotally that about some random issues at the polls. You can vote by provisional ballot if there's a problem.

Hopefully, someone recognizes the value that Teen Vogue added and starts a pub to pick up the torch.

Thank you for sharing this @leximcmenamin.com. Important piece to understand the never-changing Conde landscape.
if you want to know what happened to Teen Vogue yesterday, my work wife @allegrak.bsky.social — who ran our politics section for 6 years until this past June — said it all in this.

can't even pull out a favorite part til I sign my separation letter lol, just read the whole thing.

I guess this is unsurprising, but no less disappointing. The people attempting to disrupt voting are never the good guys...y'know, in case that needs to be said out loud.

Thank you for being on top of it, @newjerseyoag.bsky.social

Good morning, all! ☕️☕️

Time to go vote!

WTF??? Hopefully @rollingstone.com hangs in there.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

This…
They “didn’t know they had the legal authority” to use the SNAP emergency funds and it may take until Wednesday to figure out the process. They tore down the East Wing overnight and will send their goon squads into cities and put people in camps with no problem…. but feed people? Don't be fooled.

Ugh.
November 3, 2025 at 12:08 AM
Where are the “don’t tread on me” people now?
November 2, 2025 at 8:14 PM
100% this…
If you’re ok with vouchers being used for ski trips or piano lessons but not ok with SNAP benefits being used for pizza or cupcakes, it’s not the use of public money you have a problem with.

It’s that you think wealthy people deserve perks and poor people deserve to be poor.

Important video...and I'm hoping NJ has their own monitors on Tuesday.
Rachel Maddow and I discuss a shocking new move by the Trump administration: sending Department of Justice “poll monitors” — handpicked by Pam Bondi — to California and New Jersey just days before the November elections and why this poses a grave threat to free and fair elections.

About 825,000 New Jersey residents rely on SNAP benefits to feed themselves and their families. This is going to hit hard.
Walz: "They are paying contractors to pay down the East Wing but they're not putting money into the food bank. So if there's a sense of frustration in America, it's very real ... when the White House press secretary said their top priority is the ballroom, we could not disagree more."
October 27, 2025 at 4:56 PM
Exactly.
Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.
