This gives me a ton of hope. Wish it could’ve come out this year, but Amziah King is the kind of film that deserves 100% of a push from its distributor.
Comforting to know new distributor Black Bear would rather determine how best to market and release a difficult sell such as THE RIVALS OF AMZIAH KING rather than dump it during awards season and hope for the best.

MSNBC reported Schumer's office felt that the longer that shutdown went on, the more likely it was that people would start to blame the Dems.
My kingdom for Democrats that don't govern out of fear. I've said it before and I'll say it again: The American people are far braver than their reps.

These 8 Senators sold us out to Trump:
Hassan
King
Cortez-Masto
Shaheen
Kaine
Fetterman
Durbin
Rosen
Understand This Fact: Chuck Schumer is behind this. None of these 8 are up for reelection in 2026. Schumer asked them vote yes—they agreed. He's such a coward that he folded and won't even own it.

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.
Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.
The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.
People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.
And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

This is really good to see: Miki Sherrill just put out a statement sharply criticizing the Senate Dems' pending cave in the government shutdown, ripping it as "malpractice" and a betrayal of the people who are "counting on us to fight for them." Sherrill knows what drove her victory. Wake up, Dems.

If a budget deal goes through without restoring Medicaid & ACA subsidies, they will never be restored.
That's a death sentence for millions of Americans but also to the entire republic and economy: Health care is a for-profit business generating TREMENDOUS economic activity & will grind to a halt.

So Democrats get:
1. A CR that will prevent the GOP from facing the wrath of Americans for a shutdown over the holidays
2. A coupon for one (1) meaningless ACA vote that will fail
3. An end to the illegal RIF/SNAP moves that are already before the courts
Those all seem like wins for the GOP.

It’s because they want to stop the progressive Democrat victory momentum last week in its tracks because they can raise more money as perpetual (controlled) opposition to Trumpism
If Democrats do this then the entire shutdown was pointless and a massive chunk of the momentum heading into 2026 will be lost.
How can these people be this fucking stupid?????

That involves sending federal money into FSAs instead of insurance companies" www.wsj.com/politics/pol...

This is the message every Democrat needs to be screaming.
Schiff: "The president -- 'I'm going out to play golf.' One thing that is so shocking to me is that they're appealing to the Supreme Court for the right to cut off food from people. Who does that? Who works so hard to cut food from people who need it right now? The cruelty is part of the policy."
