Heck yeah. Let's go Miggy Ro.

This was one of the biggest no-brainers of the offseason.
The Dodgers are bringing back Miguel Rojas for his final season in the big leagues on a one-year, $5.5 million deal, source confirms. @DanielAlvarezEE of El Extra Base was on it.

Rojas is expected to assist the Dodgers front office in player development once his time as a player is done.

I haven't written yet (still at work) so I'll talk about last night's writing. I'm consistently struggling to write the MC's POV at this stage of the WIP. I need to take a page from @joannamasters.bsky.social and just word vomit so I can get to the end and start rewrites, but it's been a slog.

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 3: This picture was taken in the Rocky Mountains in the 80's. I had to pull the camera out from its bag at my feet and take the shot as we drove down the highway.

As someone who spent too many years desperately hoping for good x-ray diffraction, I absolutely love this.
Day 2 of #ArtAdventCalendar

Celebration of Diffraction, 2024

Overlay of
- Code-generated diffraction curves for the double slit (threejs, no AI).
- Manual construction of one curve, mimicking compass and ruler in traditional descriptive geometry with a digital pen.

Donate and subscribe to a lot more publications, journalists and authors. I'd never have time to read all of them, but knowing that they could continue doing their work more easily and bring it to a larger audience would bring me a lot of joy.
Honest question: If everyone got Universal Basic Income, no strings attached, what would YOU do with it?

Usually it's a statement: "Oh, I failed chemistry."

Or if they never took chemistry, it's, "Oh, wow. You must be smart."

And then they (usually) politely find someone else to talk to.
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!

Now that we're in December, I'm going to talk up some of my favorite books of the year. This will be a one book a day-ish🧵. I hope you enjoy and find a new book to get (support authors!) or enjoy talking about books you also love. I'm always taking recommendations too, please feel free to leave one!

If your flavour of Christianity is incompatible with a secular education, you don’t have to get one! You can just STFU and go to seminary school and not ruin shit for the other 100+ students in the lecture hall.

If you’re rigidly inflexible and unwilling to learn, you can just stay home!
When I was a university student, a Christian kid in my Near Eastern Mythology class would pick fights with our professor, insisting that the Bible was literally true, wasting everybody else’s time on a regular basis.

This situation reminds me of that kid.
OU has put the professor here on administrative leave:

Keep brainstorming. So much of what does get me stuck is trying to brainstorm on the spot, so keeping my mind open and then taking the time to freewrite is important. #weeknightwriters
Q4: What can you do in the next three days to make the next week of #FirstDraftFall easier for yourself? #WeeknightWriters
November 28, 2025 at 1:25 AM
More or less daily sprints on the Discord and all the people talking about their progress. I love community. #weeknightwriters
Q3: Let’s cheer things up a bit! What’s your favourite part of #FirstDraftFall so far? #WeeknightWriters
November 28, 2025 at 1:14 AM
I did a lot of world building for the setting of the first half of the story. I realized when I got to the second half that I hadn’t done nearly as much for the second half. Just need to unlock my brain at some point, I’m sure it’ll come. #weeknightwriters
Q2: Are you struggling with anything specific in your #FirstDraftFall project? Tell us about it and we’ll see how we can help! #WeeknightWriters
November 28, 2025 at 1:13 AM
Can’t complain. Got some brainstorming help from friends today, looking forward to getting to the next scene. Honestly, I’ve never written this much in a month. And the month isn’t over! I’m starting to see the light at the end of the draft. #weeknightwriters
Q1: How are you feeling about your #FirstDraftFall progress so far? Excited? Disheartened? #WeeknightWriters
