He/him. Booze blogger of Sipologyblog.com . Liker of music, movies, Star Wars, gardening, cooking, Middle Ages, religion, socialism, etc. Metro Detroit. Not the George Mason creep.
The number of people who keep track of and care deeply about the personal lives of celebrities is astonishing to me. I know it's been this way since the printing press was invented, but I'm still flummoxed.

Very interesting read here about early domestication of yeast.
And wine, and beer, and the list of uses for this versatile little organism goes on and on! There is evidence that humans domesticated yeast >7000 years ago! Read a short summary here, including what "shmooing" has to do with yeast: sites.google.com/view/yeastge...

I stopped trying to make interesting, good food to take to Thanksgiving. My MiL made everything regardless of what I brought, so there wasn't any point. I was just stressing myself out for nothing. I decided to bring (cheap, boring) wine instead and I felt much better about the holiday after that.
Actually in the spirit of this conversation, what’s a decision you made about a past Thanksgiving holiday that really paid off? I think people often feel trapped by their lives. Sharing our experiences can liberate us from that sense of claustrophobia.
On the most recent episode of VIBE CHECK, we answer listener questions about Thanksgiving, most importantly “do you go celebrate with the family members you don’t even like?”

There was a time when I claimed to not like the Beatles but it was mostly to assert my identity vs my father and to troll rich suburban hippies I would encounter. I always actually liked them.
As someone who is this guy's age I can tell you 100% that if you were into Pixies, Nirvana, 120 Minutes stuff, etc. but didn't like the Beatles you had to have worked hard to contort yourself into that special little box. Your enemy, if you absolutely needed one, was hair metal. GTFO here with this.

I think it's just that Trump's brain is melting and he thinks he's best friends with the last person he spoke to.
I can’t quite put it into words, but Trump praising Mamdani on the same day that MTG resigns in opposition to “big Tech, big Pharma, the war complex and big donors” feels like a harbinger of realignment.

There is a political earthquake trembling beneath the surface waiting to break through.
