In an attempt to propose a new NATO, @thetyee.ca published an opinion piece that lauded attempts by the Non-Aligned Movement to retain independence. But the piece papers over NATO's use in reinforcing the imperialist global order and totally disregards the efforts of colonized peoples. My latest:

Look at this graph of virus in the wastewater in Toronto if you don't believe me. See that pink spike? That's Flu A, which is killing people every day. The data go up to December 21. What do you think that graph is going to look like after kids go back to school and adults go back to work?

Paying people for plasma feels unethical.

But Canada already gets ~80% of its plasma from the U.S. where the system is far more exploitative.

We can't pretend there’s a standard of Canadian moral purity that we haven’t already broken.

This piece by @melodyschreiber.com is a must-read. Most people don't know what CDER is, but it is responsible for the regulation of all the drugs we put in our bodies. Hoeg is unqualified for CDER director. The only reason she was appointed is that she is an anti-vaxxer and a friend of Vinay Prasad.
Tracy Beth Høeg has no apparent experience with creating or regulating drugs, but she did make a name for herself casting doubt on some vaccines. Her appointment as the acting FDA drugs chief signifies a greater focus from Trump's FDA on (ending) vaccines. From me www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...
