#OngoingPandemic
“We may be living through a slow-moving immune decline crisis" -

(* Good to see the @thetyee.ca taking the #OngoingPandemic seriously again).

Me too. I find it hard to take people, especially medical experts—seriously when they downplay the ongoing pandemic, act like it’s over, and then talk about “preparing for the next one.”

Viruses spread like smoke, wear a high quality respirator to stop the spread, the pandemic is ongoing. Please look after people and yourselves by wearing a high quality mask. Demand clean air #OngoingPandemic
Not masking is government mandated EUGENICS.

In the 6th year of an #OngoingPandemic of an injurious #AirborneVirus, no one should need to ask this question: it reflects an abject failure of #PublicHealth -

Ignore it, or do something?

Same goes for an #OngoingPandemic now in its 6th year.

We still can't do much to mitigate against earthquakes except #DuckAndCover.

But we could do an awful lot in an #OngoingPandemic, now in its 6th year with #NEIS - to PREVENT #Reinfections, deaths, severe disease, & #LongCOVID.

Indeed, "Why is everyone sick right now?"

Wild guess: Maybe that's what happens when governments ignore an #OngoingPandemic now in its 6th year, of an immune dysregulating virus, & restrict vaccines, don't supply free #N95 masks + #CleanTheAir indoors -

Just to be clear, there is no "after the pandemic". There is only an #OngoingPandemic with #NEIS, because governments continue to ignore it.

Ironically, "because the economy" -
Yale researchers analyzed data from 158 million US workers and found that even after the pandemic, COVID-19 continues to raise work absences by 13% and labor force exits by 13%.

The virus has created a new year-round baseline similar to flu season.

Enduring Outcomes of COVID-19 Work Absences on the US Labor Market
This cohort study examines the extent to which COVID-19 continues to generate work absences and decrease labor force participation beyond the pandemic period in the US.

Patient-blaming ("you didn't eat healthily, that's why you got Long COVD), skirts the issue: government mismanagement, globally, of an #OngoingPandemic is the cause of preventable cases of #LongCOVID.

Just another lay person, wondering why governments performatively invest in pandemic preparedness, & then do absolutely nothing for an #OngoingPandemic now in its 6th year, with #NEIS.

While the official response to this #OngoingPandemic remains fragmented, there will be a cascade of unforeseen & very connected consequences -
1. Pandemics shape politics and societies. Collective trauma is a powerful force, as is societal reaction to governmental responses to reduce transmission. This is not controversial; humanity experienced it after The Spanish Flu.

If the only way to stop #LongCOVID is to stop #COVID, how do we do that in the 6th year of an #OngoingPandemic (which is ushering in #Fascism, as pandemics do) - while no government lifts a finger to stop #Reinfections?

The #OngoingPandemic, still with #NEIS, continues to demonstrate how #PublicHealth is NOT supposed to work.

Likewise, governments are supposed to act in the public interest rather than self-interest.

We're now in the 6th year of what has become an #OngoingPandemic, with #NEIS.

We're also on the cusp of a potential pandemic of #H5N1; with healthcare systems buckling under a tsunami of illness (including #LongCOVID); & healthcare workers utterly spent -

In the 6th year of an #OngoingPandemic, I can no longer accommodate the willful harm, soon to be revised as "innocent" ignorance, of the unmasked.

If you can read, there's no excuse.

By now, the only discernible difference between those who mask & those who don't, is rank selfishness -
Yes, public health abandoned us.
But your uncle blasting viral particles at dinner isn’t innocent.
Your coworker showing up coughing isn’t innocent.
Your neighbor voting against masks isn’t innocent.
We can blame both. And we should.
