We have Canadian politicians who use wait times as an excuse to push for privatization, when health outcomes could be improved by taxing wealthy corporations & individuals to ensure that public healthcare is better resourced and that EVERYONE has access to care without paying out of pocket. #ABLeg

It’s so true
I have grown to believe that excessive wealth does something to your brain that is analogous to a serious head injury

This is the problem, generally, with the right—or the technocrats— a completely cartoonish version of history living inside their heads informing policy decisions.
Here is a transcript of what the premier said.

This is your seasonal reminder that Bookshop.org and libro.fm exist as local-supporting not-Amazon options for all your physical and audiobook needs! Bookshop even gives you the option to add a card and a pretty fabric bag and ship it directly to your giftee!
Bookshop.org: Buy books online. Support local bookstores.
A better way to buy books online. Every purchase financially supports local independent bookstores.

Hell yes
I'm in Mumbai and eating a lot of good food but nothing beats this restaurant's plate of just fried garlic.

And it's unlimited. They'll keep bringing you plates:

I’m all in favour of renaming them Dragon Bastards.
The Japanese word for "seahorse" is タツノオトシゴ tatsu no otoshigo, which literally means, "the illegitimate child of a dragon."

“ Beaver overthinks dam”. I use it ALL the time.
What is the quintessential Onion headline? The strong contender that just randomly popped in my mind is "Hank Williams Jr. Honored by Institute For Football Preparedness"

Absolutely. The whole point of wealth for the wealthy is they get to break the rules.
The real moral of the Epstein story is not about some pedo cabal. It's that everyone who's as rich and ruthless as Epstein can do whatever he wants.

As opposed to the high quality racism we’ve come to expect from the Republican political class.
this is just gutter racism

Ditto for musical creators. We’ve been the canaries in the coal mine, if you will, ever since Napster. Streaming, as it now stands, is essentially theft.
Using the belief that creators are the "petite bourgeoisie" to justify pirating books/stealing art is EXACTLY what makes it so hard for anyone who isn't rich to pursue their creative dreams

If you steal our art, you PERSONALLY are preventing us from building sustainable careers
Honestly, people calling creators the "petite bourgeoisie" makes me want to snap.

We're working folk. And we work really hard. For next to nothing.

We're not lounging around eating bonbons. We're trying to figure out how we're going to be able to pay rent next month.

It’s not inexplicable. It’s one word. Money. Money is an aprodisiac. As is power. Ever see the people Henry Kissinger dated?
RFK Jr. perpetually appears out of breath, heaving from “picking up roadkill his whole life.” He works out shirtless in jeans. His own family calls him a “predator.”

Archaeologist here. For 99.5% of human history (ca 300-400,000 years), we were peaceful (no war). There was conflict and smaller scale violence, but countless studies on the 119 known modern hunter gatherer groups show cooperation, negotiation, and peace instead of conflict. Please read books.
Revenge/physical combat was how people settled things for literally millions of years, it's normal human behavior, we're wolves not sheep, the government project trying to social engineer us and domesticate us into sheep has been unsuccessful
