I’m addicted to the crosswords app, but I think it’s nevertheless time to say goodbye to the NYT.
New York Times killed Weinstein and Epstein stories but just asked Ms Rachel if she was funded by Hamas.

my one comment about today's Epstein etcetera is that, just by everything that those emails suggest about blackmail and kompromat, that the scandal in the full files is, amazingly, probably much worse than Trump and other elites simply being child rapists, and just... think about that sentence

My initial takeaway is that Epstein didn’t like Trump and didn’t take him very seriously. It’s like Trump was the guy who got invited to Little St. James so the other guys could goof on him.
NEW: Jeffrey Epstein said in emails that he had been advising the Russian government on how to deal with Donald Trump, one of several cases in which he wielded his connections to try to influence the course of foreign affairs. w @nahaltoosi

It’s another bummer, but I’m not mad. Baseball writers overthink everything, and that tendency is all over this outcome.
Is it weird I’m not bothered by Manager of the Year? Am I dead inside?

59 seconds and counting.
Please do not spend one minute of your life being mad about whoever is named mlb manager of the year.

I promise you it is not worth it!!! ☠️

I’m really liking Bluesky, but skeet? No. And why “skeet”, anyway? Shouldn’t it be a “bleet”. That works on a few levels.

The moral failing in attempting to prove Hitler was the victim of a genetic something-something is the same as the moral failing in claiming Trump is mentally ill. Their acts are those of conscious adults who’ve justified them in writing — they’re very fundamentally victimizers, not victims
"The research will probably provoke controversy, both for its having been done and for its findings."
Absolutely atrocious decision by everyone involved to do this research. The findings add nothing to historical understanding or political prevention, and hold immense potential to do harm.
Exclusive: Adolf Hitler’s DNA has been sequenced by scientists

It has:
- shown he had a disorder which impacted his sexual development
- debunked rumours about his ancestry
- shown a high likelihood that he had a neurodivergent condition and/or bipolar disorder

And for it to be this carrier in particular, the first in America’s new generation of carriers and the largest warship ever constructed, suggests this is about using Venezuela as a bloody prop to show off America’s “warfighting” prowess to an increasingly skeptical world.

I know it’s important (and more sensational) to focus on the far right, but it’s the so-called moderates and centrists who have spent and, I suspect, will continue to spend the most money trying to discredit anything Mamdani does or says.

This isn’t the first time. Or the second. Allegations related to sexual harassment and assault involving Smith go back over 20 years.

If CPC HQ doesn't think we notice that they trot out smirking Andrew Scheer every time Poilievre gets himself or the party into a pickle, lemme say clearly, we notice.

I heard a similar line from @profgalloway.com, who seems a bit offended that Mamdani wouldn’t come on his show for an interview when Galloway persistently misrepresents Mamdani’s grocery policy and consistently mispronounces his last name (6 times on todays’ Pivot alone).
Canadian multimillionaire and Shark Tank guy Kevin O'Leary went on TV to say he's upset Zohran won't talk to him: "I and others who invest in real estate have tried to get a meeting to figure out what's rhetoric and what's policy. So far for me it's been crickets."

Still really bothered by this. I love the way Queen's Park was redone recently, with a bit of low key elegant European park style combined with Canadian tree park. We don't need a lot of parks like that but it's good to have one.

This excerpt from Ross Douthat's (frequently renamed) "Women Ruin Work" panel in the NYT today reads like a 10-year-old blog post from a campus conservative. And, of course, the panellists lament the end of "conversation" in a discussion which doesn't include anyone with a contrary position.
