Fortunately 'culinary psychopath' is not a thing.

Surely he'd be capable of laughing with, not at.

They’ve, already, commenced with a brutal and tortuous campaign

The mobilisation order was reportedly issued via phone calls and text messages which said the aim was to "cleanse Gaza of outlaws and collaborators with Israel" and told fighters to report within 24 hours

‪Hume and Kant looking on from philosophical posterity, teary-eyed--because they knew that human decency is so damn fragile that only the constant societal resolve to keep up appearances can save things from unravelling. More sincerity, less authenticity called for these days.

anyone else notice that the west took a turn for the worse once the concept of signaling one’s own social virtue became derogatory, almost as if cynically deriding all displays of charity and good will is indicative of a deeply cynical and nihilistic society capable of collaborating in genocide

her advocacy for Palestinians doesn't bother me nearly as much as she is so desperately doing all this as an actual act of transparent virtue signaling, to fill the absence she has in depth of character

Well, given those panel members....
nataliebrender.bsky.social
Oh, that seems a bad line of argument. Who makes it in Canada?

Do the folk who argue for institutional neutrality on speech issues, ie @jacobtlevy.bsky.social, state that this ought to apply to institutional partnership & investment decisions? Not sure political theorists would see these as based on the same principles.

Great interview:

“For years, I’d smiled in pictures with these leaders, shaken their hands and stood next to them at podiums – but not one of them picked up the phone, or replied to my messages. To the men who ran the world, I was just a photo op.”

If factories aren't churning out giant inflatable lice, locust, boils and hail costumes right now, what is bible study even for.

Pretty sure that when you have giant frogs everywhere, God is very disappointed in how you are treating immigrants.

An academic field taking responsibility for displacing political engagement that grapples directly with the locus of power in the media system? Nah the blame is general. Liberalism looked pretty good for a long time.

Is that even real? Hate thinking this way now.

I was very enlightened by @rimaanabtawi.bsky.social's perspective on why Barghouti might not be included, potentially by his own choice. See thread: bsky.app/profile/rima...
rimaanabtawi.bsky.social
The difficulty wrangling is always saved for last. It’s beginning to appear that there are possibly only two really problematic or difficult persons and imo important to consider that Barghouti has to agree to be released. He can and could decline.

Looking forward to next year's APSA panel on this.

Very much enjoying the inflatable frog segment of the civil war.

Can verify it was a terrific set of panels, with much crossover to health disinformation. The challenges of effective communication in this environment are huge; Catherine brought the candour & spice. Kudos to @thewalrus.ca for important work.

Incredible #ClimateAtACrossroads event yesterday, hosted by @thewalrus.ca & McGill's @maxbellschool.bsky.social. I joined a passionate panel alongside Kathryn Harrison, Andrew Leach, and Christopher Ragan for a feisty discussion about fighting climate disinformation & greenwashing.

Panel was moderated by the host of this TVO show on mis/disinformation, who was very keen to learn about NCC. www.tvo.org/big-if-true

They think Pope Leo is plotting a stealth insurrection against them. Though all that's left in the 'possible rise' department for him is an annunciation.

At an Ottawa conference today on climate change disinformation today ppl were lamenting the lack of initiatives to train influencers for civic good & I was happy to share word of MCC. Much discussion too re value/scalability of funding this and civic dialogue approaches; but what's the alternative?

Yes. Thank you for sharing your expertise at this moment.

Thx, will read. I'm wondering what could possibly incentivize Bibi not to start war again, given how far the current incentives have lasted.

Well who could believe Netanyahu is acting in good faith... Tough list of unlikely conditions, ugh.
