Still working from a fireplace log. In addition I used less than one fence picket to build the house. I coat only with linseed oil now since that seems to be the safest for the birds. #birds #birdhouse #affordablehousing #nature

A Bittern stands partially concealed among tall, golden reeds in a shallow wetland, bathed in soft evening light. Its streaked brown plumage blends perfectly with the surrounding vegetation, an expert in camouflage. With its long, sharp bill pointed upwards and eyes alert, it appears frozen in its classic stealthy pose, waiting patiently in the still water.

Days like today it's great to squeeze in or combine birding while mainly doing other stuff 🙂 Hopefully more time next weekend!
Gloomy with the Isle of Wight barely visible. There is a grassy slope above a path with a few people walking or jogging. Belinda that is vegetated shingle, then shingle, and then the sea. It is very flat. There are rocks with a tall green marker. In the distance looking west the coast bends round to Hill Head.

A short wait at last light today was rewarded with great views of the Firecrest at Kidwelly Quay sewage works, deep in the brambles opposite. Also seen were a Peregrine and male Marsh Harrier, plus a big flock of Golden Plover put up presumably by one of the former. #birdingWales
