I am a nerd who loves sports. I also spend my free time reading, running, lifting weights, and petting my cats.

She/her
My cat Bucky is getting a dental today. When I dropped Bucky off, the vet tech was like “we love Bucky here,” and when I was leaving and she was taking him to the back, she said, “C’mon Bucky, let’s go see all your girlfriends.”

I’m starting to suspect my cat has a secret life somehow.

I have a question kind of tagging yesterday’s disability accommodations discourse:
Has anyone seen any analysis of the DOJ’s accessibility mandate for online content? this requirement is hitting universities as of April 2026 and I’ve heard several questions/hypotheses but not read any coverage.

The very least we can do is publicly shame the politicians causing this harm 👇

I am both petty and stubborn af, you will not outlast me.
“AI is clearly sticking around so you have to get used to it” wrong. I don’t have to get used to shit. I am a practiced hater and I can keep this going for decades if I am required to

This thread is 💯. Labor precarity in academia means the evisceration of faculty governance and academic freedom, opening the door to administrative purges of the most vulnerable. And faculty-esp tenured faculty and academic leaders-who aren't defending their trans colleagues are enabling it.
So yeah, this is fundamentally about trans people and that cannot be elided, but the ways in which junior faculty are targeted and disposed of, while academic jobs are increasingly precarized, and political grandstanders seek to influence academic governance are fucking terrifying for everyone.

I just feel we need to keep saying, over and over, that the problem with DOGE was not its failure to cut spending. the problem with DOGE is that it CUT GLOBAL AID LEADING TO THE DEATHS OF 600K PEOPLE AND COUNTING. 1
DOGE is one of the greatest failures of the Trump administration. The next Democratic administration should pick up that issue and actually work to cut government waste, fraud, and abuse. I’d suggest starting by taking a look at Elon Musk’s government contracts.

Cross country is a wild sport to watch. There’s so many people crossing the finish line within hundredths of a second, and in the meantime, you see someone who finished earlier and fell over being dragged offscreen.

Why the heck would you call this “scientific orthodoxy”? Scientific consensus? Long-established facts? Many-times-confirmed research? What are we doing here, NYT?
Breaking News: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he personally instructed the CDC to abandon its position that vaccines do not cause autism. The move underscores his determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy — in this case, that vaccines save lives — and bend the health department to his will.
RFK Jr. Says He Instructed CDC to Change Vaccines and Autism Language on Website
In an interview, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. cited gaps in vaccine safety research. His critics say he is ignoring a larger point: Vaccines save lives.

I may have crashed our DEV environment this afternoon…

The IT folks love me, I’m sure. At least it was in DEV and not production.

Cuyahoga River fire in '69 was the gamechanger but the river burned at least 13 times. around the US, river fires were not uncommon.

the comeback of the Cuyahoga specifically, declared "dead" locally in some reports even in 1967, is a success story for the ages that requires constant retelling.

It was a rough game, but I agree that there were bright spots. Kylie Kitts gets better every minute she plays. I also think Ava Watson has made a big jump since last year. Her stats didn’t reflect it, but imo her decision-making is better and her presence is felt whenever she’s in the game.

But I do need her to figure out her defense under the basket, because she is getting schooled.
It is kind of fun to see Kylie Kitts get better every game.

I appreciate that the main takeaway from this lesson is that science can't ever really be "apolitical."
11-year-old: Our new science project is so frustrating!

Me: How so?

11: We're designing an earthquake warning system, and we could only get it to 59 minutes and 2 false alarms, and it still cost $123M, which means cutting road and school budgets. It's impossible!

Me: Sounds like that's the point.

Trans kids should be able to play sports with their gender identity without restriction through high school.

At the college and professional level, reasonable restrictions can be applied, and they can differ on requirements based on rules from that sport’s governing body. But no blanket bans.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

He will have shown himself to be absolutely ineffective as a minority leader. He has to go.

Literally resign tonight.
