People told him, loudly and vehemently, what a terrible idea this was when he first posted about it and he has chosen to ignore them because he doesn't actually care about anything but the $.

Children do not need A.I. to create. Full stop.

Nodding at all of this. Yep.
C'mere, pookie. We need to talk about how now is a difficult time for lots of people in publishing. Not just bc--*waves arms*--but bc we're seeing Best of the Year lists and Award Eligibility posts, and bc the last book deals of the year are being announced while sub times are longer than ever. 1/

This is something I and my fellow hyper literate types have a really hard time grasping. It’s frustrating to think you’re being really clear in writing, but still get wildly misunderstood because you’ve overestimated people’s literacy level.

This is…a real problem online.
People don't understand what is meant by "literacy" and the "literacy crisis".

Literacy isn't just not being able to physically read. Many people know how to see words and say words, which is basic reading. Literacy is being able to infer the correct information from what you read.

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

I love love love that they hired a painter to do these portraits and then acknowledged her by name. Artists of all kinds supporting each other is so beautiful.
Our gorgeous #WakeUpDeadMan end credit portraits, painted from life by Isabella Watling. We’re still in theaters, see my pinned post for a theater finder!

It’s time to talk about my cat. To which you might be saying, “Chuck, I didn’t know you had a cat!” and I’d respond with, “I didn’t know I had a cat either…

It's not a badge of honor when books get banned. It stinks for everyone. For the book creators, who worked hard to create something special that now won't be shared. The kids who miss out. The librarians and teachers who are treated like criminals. And taxpayers who have to pay for this nonsense.

The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

Folks, a famous author isn't ever going to contact you out of the blue to offer you literary services. It's always a scam. Also, speaking as an at least semifamous author, you wouldn't want any services we did offer, we're just barely handling our own shit, much less anyone else's.
I've now heard from 3 authors targeted on X by a scammer impersonating Lois McMaster Bujold. Bujold impersonator refers author to "Eleanor Wood at Spectrum Literary", also an impersonation. Goal: to sell editing svcs. Scam is impersonating multiple authors & agents writerbeware.blog/2025/11/14/i...

Authors, Beware! There's a firm called "ClaimsHero" doing aggressive social media outreach claiming to
"help" you file to get $ in the Anthropic class action. In fact, it's a bait-and-switch, they are luring authors to sign up with them, then OPTING THEM OUT of the class action so they'll get zilch.

But the public libraries in tiny Jefferson County in Northern Appalachia were in danger of losing their tax funding thanks to right-wing book banners. And we won. The library's funding is safe!!!!!
