We need a bigger national spotlight on this building raid, fam. Agents dropped from helicopters onto the roof. Citizens and non-citizens alike were dragged from their homes in the night. People who weren't kidnapped during the raid had their belongings seized after the fact. This is madness.
"Jones, 27, is among the residents left at 7500 S. South Shore Drive who are trying to piece together what remains after an early morning, high-powered federal immigration raid led to the arrests of dozens of their neighbors at their South Shore apartment building."
Massive immigration raid on Chicago apartment building leaves residents reeling: 'I feel defeated'
The Department of Homeland Security said federal agents with Border Patrol, the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives arrested 37 people in the raid.

new from @kylietcheung.bsky.social in @teenvogue.com: recently, men have impersonated plainclothes ICE agents to assault women—only possible, she argues, because state agents commit violence with impunity.

"To be clear, men wouldn’t be posing as ICE agents and assaulting women if ICE didn’t exist."
How ICE Raids Are Making It Easier for Civilian Men to Assault Immigrant Women
"This phenomenon is only possible because of the outsized power that state agents have always had to abuse and control women and victims' bodies," argues Kylie Cheung.

The FBI is led by MAGA influencers. The fascists have blurred the lines between media, law enforcement, and the government as a whole. And when it comes to an assassination, they use their positions to scapegoat trans people and the left — instead of investigating.

Speech for them not for us.

Fresnolandia Podcast: Will AI data centers really use up our water?
On this week's Fresnolandia podcast, Danielle and Jordan talk with veteran journalist Lois Henry, the founder and executive editor of SJV Water, a nonprofit, independent newsroom focused on water in the valley. They talk about the actual water demand from AI data centers, whether they're really coming for our water, and if we should expect a battle between farmers, water district managers, and the tech giants for water.

The Coast Guard works for ICE now.

Coast Guard planes previously used for search and rescue have done hundreds of secret ICE flights in recent weeks, including two I watched from a public parking lot near BWI.

Since the legislative session began in December, the average lawmaker has spoken for 6.3 hours.
