The ambassador should be called to the carpet on this. No canadian should set foot in America. This is an escalation.
This post to Truth Social requires an immediate response from the international community and either impeachment or invocation of the 25th amendment by Congress. Republicans, you are sleepwalking the world towards an entirely preventable catastrophe.

I like that the same day a guy was like “this place will never be Twitter” this thread gave us the most 2015 Twitter experience (complimentary) imaginable.
I just woke up from a nap and somehow while I was asleep, everyone on the bus has figured out we are not going to the right place

Donald Trump’s MAGA Republicans came to power under first-past-the-post. Nigel Farage’s Reform UK is on track for a majority with about 30% of the vote.

How long do we keep gambling this will not happen here?

We need proportional representation.

Memo to Toronto transportation services: read this, visit KW, stop foot dragging on transit priority.
Ion: An Ontario LRT that somehow works

With proper signal priority, reliable service, and a flexible route, Waterloo Region's LRT is a good example of a successful transit service and planning tool. Though it has a few issues - including some slow sections and a restrictive operating contract -…

Continuing on the history thing, Guangzhou has been part of China since ca. 220BCE. And in the 2200 years since, the city centre has not moved.
Today, walking down Beijing Road, you can see the 1000-year-old ancient street underneath a glass display, uncovered back in 2002.

Our culture has such a reliance on art, mixed with so much disdain for artists' lives. Someone throws soup at a painting in a gallery or whatever and everyone acts like it's a literal murder, but that level of sympathy is for the object, almost never for the living conditions of artists.

Dunno what Canada’s numbers look like, but I’m sure they’re not far off.

I’m reminded of those “[Country] is living in 2099” videos that show some impressive piece of infrastructure they have over there. Thing is: they’re not. They’re living in the present. WE’RE the ones who are decades behind.
If there's one empirical insight I'd want everyone to understand about American politics, it's this:

America's problems are solved problems. Just not here.

What would change if the US simply matched the average of 31 peer democracies? Not Denmark or Norway. Just the middle of the pack. 🧵

Similar temperatures and snowfalls in Kitchener-Waterloo and Toronto today. Let’s compare the LRTs:

ION LRT: Slight hour disruption between a small section in the north between two stations. Service has been restored.

Finch West LRT: Shut down since this morning.

Update as of 4pm:
Line 6 Finch West LRT trains still out of service. Shuttle buses running.

ION LRT still running fine, though GRT buses are having some issues (like many TTC bus routes as well). Many TTC streetcars routes are doing fine though.

Everyone, babes/old/workers waiting & waiting. This was a collision it seems but routinely in snow streetcars blocked by cars parked etc.

Some city councillors huffing and puffing about impounding bikes of delivery people - but not cars that hold up 100s of people.
506 Carlton: No service between High Park Loop and College St at Lansdowne Ave due to a blocked track.

One thing that really strikes me about people who shallowly argue for trams in N-America is how little they realize that the way we manage traffic here will seldom produce the level of ease of access they experience in European trams and long for

Example: accessibility of stops, Paris vs Toronto
