In 1972, a Venezuelan farmer found one of his cows dead - its neck & shoulder shattered.

It was blamed on a falling boulder, which was kept as a doorstop.

It was really a meteorite - the only case of a lethal modern space rock.

Good morning, I got about three hours of sleep last night--too much anticipation for what tonight could shape up to be. Here is the NOAA SWPC ENLIL model for the X1.9 CME. The impact time is identical to NASA's prediction - 1 UT Jan 20 or 7 pm CST Jan 19. Tonight is the night!

In December, I traveled to Montgomery to visit the Legacy Museum, which traces the story of Black America from slavery to Jim Crow to mass incarceration. I wanted to understand how the museum & its affiliated sites were operating in a moment where so much of the history they present is under attack.

NOAA SWPC just issued a rare G4 / SEVERE geomagnetic storm watch for Monday night! This is the highest level of geomagnetic storm watch that exists (no such thing as a G5 watch). Stay tuned for more updates from me as I compile some longform posts to give you all the details

I think we all must admit that the markets seem not to care whether the Fed is independent or not. (At least until they do care.)

Which should make us all realize that markets are not some deus ex machina that can save us from ourselves.

If we want democracy, the people must assert themselves.
The Secretary suggests maybe the markets *want* a more politicized central bank.

Time to familiarize ourselves with the term "Dirty War"
Yes. ICE service is being sold to disaffected MAGA goons as an opportunity to wage a campaign of cleansing, restorative violence against Americans as an act of patriotic national service. And most normies now see that this isn't anything akin to real law enforcement.

I don't think people realize how quickly self-sorting is happening as the middle evaporates.

You're either 100% behind the resistance or you're a fascist collaborator.
We are so far past the Rubicon that it isn't worth having a discussion anymore as to whether Trump is acting as an authoritarian. The only question is whether we have the strength and courage to get back to the other side.

One thing I’d like to see is my senators and governor every day on tv at 5pm holding a press conference with video of every documented abuse that ICE is doing. Curate all of the witnessing we’re doing and show it to the press.
Local parents groups asking if adults can ride school buses to help protect children from ICE after a special ed bus got stopped this morning. Like a Dirty Harry movie except the villain in the federal government.

Because it's not for you.

His strategy is to have his "fascist voter" cake, and eat his "base of fascist victims" too.

This strategy hopes that there are no better Dem primary candidates.🤷🏿‍♂️

Some of y'all never met a Holocaust survivor in person. Laying low while hoping the fascism just blows over is not a viable option.
I hear your passion. However, by doing that you are giving Trump what he wants. A military state. A reason to declare the insurrection act. Trump knows he’s on his way out. This is why he’s trying to start a war. Weather in the US or outside. He does not care if we all die. He probably prefers it.

This is where it is going. This is what Stephen Miller is pushing to Trump. The only reason it has not happened yet is that the violence is obviously coming from state actors. There is no insurrection to control. But we are one incident away from Trump sending in the military.
