Apple: Here, use some AI
Scrivener: I would prefer not to.
Not satisfied with just destroying their own brand goodwill, OS companies are now using AI to try to destroy the good names of the apps users install. (Scrivener taking out adds to explain how it has no AI but Apple adds some anyway.)

I warned that private equity taking over Walgreens would be bad for workers.

This is the private equity playbook: they hollow out businesses, cheat their workers, and drive them into the ground.

Red Lobster, Toys "R" Us, and Joann Fabrics. Who’s next?
Report: Walgreens cuts hourly workers’ pay for 6 major holidays
The hourly employees will only be paid if they work on those holidays.

It was a crazy busy in the bookshop today. I took almost four times what I'd expect to take on a normal Weds. I guess the ramp-up to Christmas has started, which is good news. Independent bookshops make around a third of their yearly income over the seasonal period, so remember to shop local!

Kate's work is brilliant. If you've not read her, here's a perfect place to begin. (then grab her novels and call in sick for a fortnight.) You won't want to put them down.

RIP Drew Struzan - a man whose talent and imagination etched onto so many minds throughout the last 40+ years.

His art & posters are some of the first visuals I think of when I think about cinema - an invitation to watch these stories and worlds.

A massive loss 💔

I think my biggest takeaway from the Klein/Coates discussion is that Klein seems unable to see or accept that the politics of triangulation are directly responsible for many of the losses the American left have seen in the last 20 years. Returning to that strategy will make things worse, not better.

in light of the kimmel news, just a reminder that a few days ago a prominent fox news host literally called for killing homeless people. right afterward, someone shot up a couple homeless encampments.

that fox news host still has his job.
Brian Kilmeade endorses euthanizing homeless people: "Involuntary lethal injection, or something. Just kill them."
