After an eventful summer, Gamer Mom: The Mom Who Games is rapidly speeding toward completion. Here the characters are, all dressed up to re-enact the Franco-Prussian War for reasons which are unclear even to them. @monoapilas.bsky.social is - let me be clear - an incredibly talented artist.

When you add in "Little Thief and the Martyr's Head," I've had a story in Beneath Ceaseless Skies every year since Godmaker was published! (2021 me would have been amazed to know I got in even once!)

when I was young, i used to wonder how people like this would fare in life, as they didn't seem suited for gainful employment. it turns out, the internet allowed them to accumulate a massive audience of similar idiots, enriching them and turning them into a presidential advisor

material prosperity is kinda dependent on a livable environment
If there’s no shale gas then there’s no shale gas, but I still think environmentalism is basically bad and politicians should focus more on material prosperity.

I'm sure many people have mentioned this, but I think it needs to be mentioned again: women do not have yearbooks. Children do. Because yearbooks contain photos of high school students. Or younger.
This is a nuts story. An AI chatbot and image platform left millions of images exposed. They show what people are actually using the AI for: taking random women's yearbook, graduation, and social media photos and making super realistic hardcore porn with them

Thank you so much to everyone who's shared & donated for your generosity. The fundraiser's at 82% to Archita's goal and support has slowed a lot. She'd be most grateful if people keep sharing & giving so she can reach her goal & get some security in this terrible time.
Fellow Calcuttan writer/editor Archita Mittra is in desperate need of financial help. She recently lost her father, her home was damaged in the recent rains, & her mother's in hospital. They don't have insurance, & she's a freelancer. I can vouch for her. Please share widely & donate:

"There are no meaningful subsidies for fossil fuels"

The *direct federal* subsidies for the coal industry - so not the state stuff, not the pollution waivers, not other tax breaks, just 'the cash the federal government hands over to them' - is more than the industry pays in wages.
KERNEN: Does the admin want to dismantle wind projects that are getting started?

WRIGHT: The track record is bad. We've spent hundreds of billions of subsidies for an energy source that's sometimes there. The main goal is to stop subsidizing. There are no meaningful subsidies for fossil fuels
