Nigel Farage lied about Brexit so knowing that on its own should discount him from getting enough votes to get elected for anything but now we know he is an unrepentent racist he should be down and out, surely?

'Perhaps' does some lifting here but ask yourself what would happen in the right wing media if Chris Mason ever expressed the equally plausible *opinion* that Farage is 'perhaps' the most obviously racist MP since Enoch Powell.
Didn't like this then, like it less now:
The BBC's political editor just described Farage as "perhaps one of the master story-tellers of his political generation".

This please. The idea that there’s a paucity of opportunity for boys is to misunderstand the problem. Boys are falling behind socially, and suffering for it, because *men* refuse to acknowledge social progress. It’s not hard, but we must be more selective about the messages we send to boys.
"the issue isn’t that we need more 'boy-friendly' reforms. It’s that boys are socialized to compete only with boys and to read girls’ success as illegitimate or emasculating. The result is dissonance, resentment, and disengagement for boys—and hostile climates for girls."

Plus sides to today: Two-child benefit scrapped. Largely progressive tax implications. Good market reaction. No big spending cuts. Nightmare prospect of cutting funding to net zero etc avoided. It's a left-wing budget. Those who say there's no difference between Labour and Tories are bananas.

Let’s put aside the schooldays accusations and look, instead, at the Reform leader’s path since then. I think a pretty clear picture of the man emerges, says author and podcaster Musa Okwonga

I want him ( Johnson) to be arrested and charged. Anything else is a slap in the face for ordinary people.
It will defy comprehension if nothing significant is done.

Farage can now be easily boxed in to a corner where his only ‘defence’ becomes: “Yes I spouted Kremlin propaganda & Putin worship but, unlike Nathan Gill, I didn’t need bribes to do it.”
It is, once again, a question of whether interviewers have the temerity to shut down his whining obfuscations.

So much of the UK’s steady decline post war can be explained by how easy it is for some people to fail upwards. Some spectacular examples with COVID and Brexit - often the same people in both. And easily identifiable by the frequency of their appearance on BBC Radio 4 Today programme

Coverage of the refugee proposals demonstrates why we have such a broken political system. Endless focus on left-wing anger and right-wing support. Basically nothing on whether the reforms will work. They will not, which is why we'll still be here having the same debate in three years.
