So, I’m kind of tentatively branching out into podcast production, so here’s my pitch -

Obviously there are too many podcasts in the world, but as someone who listens to a lot of them, my great issue is that - even among some of the prominent ones - the production values often aren’t very high.

Yup. Unashamedly I cannot keep up.

There’s literally none of it that wouldn’t be better dealt with via email either, but instead I need to daily monitor over ten different apps just to stay on top of stuff. It feels unsustainable.

I counted up the number of ways (platforms, accounts, apps) that people in my professional and personal lives plus healthcare systems and kid’s school are contacting me and uhh. This is objectively impossible.

I’ve always been a fan of a proper local local and we’re so lucky to have this one here.

I’ve seen the owner here lead some of the heavier drinking more elderly regulars to his car and take them home if the alternative is them walking. Just good, good people.

Built a new gate for our front garden and now being almost excessively well taken care of by the fine people at the bar in my ends. A good afternoon.
A pint, a large bowl of pizza salad and a kindle e reader.

So fascinating. And the thing is, I’m sure they are a nice and interesting person, but also just one who apparently can’t let one tiny thing go.

It is. I think people like this might display the same types of behaviour in offline environments too (we’ve all met people who cannot Be Wrong) but it definitely seems to be a radicalising factor.

…need to perform infallibility to the crowd - a thing which, obviously, if you choose to put it above all else, will go wrong sooner or later.

It’s one hundred percent fascinating and someone should do a podcast about it. (Call it ‘Posting Through It’, thank me later.)

I’d have some sympathy were it not for the fact that, probably a bunch of times, I’ve done something similar and had to go ‘who’s got two thumbs and no working brain cells? THIS GUY!’ as a result.

What I do have sympathy for is the pile-on, but that would’ve been WHOLLY avoided by not feeling the…

The internet is an amazing mirror to human behaviour.

Ok, update, this person DELETED THEIR ACCOUNT rather than acknowledge the fact that they accidentally posted an AI video and just go ‘my bad’.

A well followed account that was being used for professional stuff.

People are *fascinating*.
The thread that started this off.

this person posted an Al video (the reporter has three arms, for a start) and then turned off comments when people pointed it out, so i have to insist everybody block them. block this account right now and i'll give you a thumbs up in your mind

Seems like they are going after reporters who are women. They hit one w/pepper spray ammo in her car, the WGN reporter and now this.

Haha. I couldn’t think of a better non-mean explanation.

My friend Sascha is a professional musician and he's lost a viola bow on the way to Heathrow. Please signal boost to help him get it back.
Lost viola bow on the way from Honor Oak Station to Heathrow Terminal 2. The bow slid from its bow case somewhere along the way, possibly on the train. TFL contacted already.
It weighs 68.2 grams and has got a stamped DODD next to the frog. If any info on this, please pm me.

It’s a fascinating (and obvs awful) dynamic.

Seeing men start up micro communities on the best ways to use this stuff to catfish women further reinforces my idea that male bonding has taken up even more of the purpose of dating women than it did before.

Every single step of this is talking to and with other men, never honesty with women.

It’s just PUA misogynistic bullshit by another name right?

If you’re presenting yourself fraudulently to someone, that’s already *really* bad, but I’d also wager than basically anyone who does this isn’t actually emotionally prepared to have a relationship, and has an immature view of what one is.

this is sociopathic behaviour and I think we need to treat it as such! just because something has become easy to do doesn't mean it has become less creepy, or more acceptable!

…not only a WHOLE other thing than the women he’s pursuing, but is kind of actively disinterested in that dissonance cause the people he’s really trying to impress are other dudes.
petefrasermusic.bsky.social
V v much so I think - and as a result (or maybe as a root cause depending on your perspective) the idea of a relationship and the idea of sex are broadly synonymous; the total absence of, contempt for, female voices in the question of ‘what women want’ creates this weird type of man who is doing…

Yes that always strikes me - I feel like you can sense that they’ve justified itself to themselves somehow, but it’s wholly bad in quite particular ways.

Sort of the two million quid house version of being painfully ironic about everything in your twenties - that stuff catches up with you in the end.

I think it’s a kind of parlour game vibe, where they chuckle about the silliness of it in private, but I suspect it’s also monumentally unfulfilling on a personal level.

I always wonder whether I’m being a bit mean posting stuff like this, then I see the sheer venom of the replies and I realise I’m being positively reserved. Lotta v casual anger out there.
