Currently, elections are won on 20% of the electorate. Unless people decide that voting is worth doing we are going to end up with a racist PM voted in by a minority of racists.

Facts
If a British person responds to your opinion with a jaunty 'Fair enough!' then the conversation is over and they think you're a prick.

Not done in depth breakdown but looks like the number of immigrants hasn't dropped that much year on year but people leaving has dramatically increased which is creating that low net migration figure. Further analysis in terms of what that means is needed.

Starmer is correct, I think. The manifesto said "we will not
increase National Insurance, the basic, higher, or additional rates of Income Tax, or VAT." They should break that promise, but they haven't.
Paul McNamara, "Chancellor breached the manifesto by freezing income tax thresholds and tax rises"

Keir Starmer, "We haven't breached the manifesto"

Labour are now speaking just like the Conservatives did in office. This was not the change people voted for #C4News

No one thinks it's wrong to have wealthy people. Billionaires is another matter.
However, someone has to pay tax.
Can't be the poor because they can't afford it, can't be the rich because they'd leave (allegedly)
So who?

In Cameron's days, it was accepted that Corbyn's Labour were ineffective as an opposition so conservatives back benches were doing that job and it was seen as healthy.
Now, the shoe is on the other foot, Starmer is being painted as weak because he responds to his back benchers demands.

Looking at migration figures UK, it does appear that the number of. Immigrants coming into the country hasn't dropped by that much whilst people leaving has increased by about one third.
Not sure what to read into that.

If you are one of those paid to analyse budgets, if you thought that Liz Truss was a genius, you should be disqualified.

But, @mrjamesob.bsky.social
We are painted as poor and vulnerable when we, as a group, are probably in the wealthiest constituency.
Yes, I realise some pensioners are poor and vulnerable and those should be supported.

The BBC and other media awash today with people with fancy titles from one right-wing think-tank or another, bloviating wildly about the budget. NOBODY asks them where their funding comes from, ever. This is not fair and impartial 'journalism'. It is utter cant.

On Truss & Kwarteng in ‘22. Allister Heath, Telegraph: “the best budget I have ever heard a British chancellor deliver". Alex Brummer, Mail: “a genuine Tory package elbowing to one side the Treasury's fiscal conservatism".
These men will now be paid actual money for their analysis of today’s budget.
