I call on the Australian government to #RaiseTheRate of all support payments to a living wage.
This would be the single most effective way to lift the productivity, quality of life, and well-being of the whole country.

"Victims also walk away because the system is unknowable. Every door leads to a rule they weren’t told about, a demand they don’t understand, or a breach of privacy they never agreed to"

The justice system wants victims to be silent — and legal illiteracy makes sure of it
Recent developments in the Bruce Lehrmann case in Toowoomba show how complicated the justice system is to navigate.

Australia has an epidemic of police misidentification of F&DV victims as perpetrators. Instead of only funding police to be 1st responders we need skilled professionals alongside, or where possible, instead & a choice of solutions tailored to communities & need

Jacquie Thomson was brutally attacked and then misidentified as the aggressor. She's working to hold police accountable
Jacquie Thomson is one of a large number of women who police continue to misidentify as primary aggressors instead of as victim/survivors.

We need safer ways to report family & domestic violence. For responders to help instead of making it worse. Police keep getting it wrong, misidentifying victims as aggressors. They can't continue to respond to F&DV incidents without experts alongside.
This is my story

Independent Legal Representation should be a right for victim/survivors of SF&DV & people so commonly misidentified by police as primary aggressors when they're really victims of F&DV. Any other model - like what we have now - guarantees that justice is not served

This is deeply sickening. When privileged white women like me can't get justice from police, what chance do first nations women have from our racist, misogynist police departments? This story leaves me heart broken. We should all be ashamed that we accept this

This story is tragic & completely avoidable. We need better ways for survivors to call for help when police only make things worse. This egregious example is far from rare.
Let's get the Feds thinking about alternate, skilled response service for F&DV from non-police. Pls sign

Police tell you their post "lock up the kids" laws saw crime rate ⬇️ 10% but tell parliament it was 6%. When we lock up the small % of kids who are doing most of the crime they're off the streets but will reoffend when back out. What about an actual informed solution?

The media keeps pushing the lie that fossil fuels are cheaper than renewables. They’re not. CSIRO and AEMO show solar and wind are far cheaper. The fossil fuel lobby funds the lie, and half our grid’s already renewable. The transition’s happening, like it or not.

A sensible overview re kid's social media access law.
NB
* kids can interact where ever you don't need an account
* govt enforcement often focuses on goals for compliance rather than detailing processes
* if parents have a convo with kids, that's half the battle
