Yes! I was a literacy tutor for schools and these kids are learning through sight words aka memorization. In tutoring we taught them phonics, with phonemic awareness, blending sounds, decoding prefixes, suffixes and root words for comprehension but they were starting from being behind grade level.

Since we have the time, people should really inform themselves about Newsom's specifically loathsome policies/statements against three extremely vulnerable and marginalized groups: the disabled, the unhoused, and trans people.
I hate the idea of Gavin Newsome being president. The goal should not be Democrat Trump. The man is ableist and all kinds of problematic. The way so many people support him is distressing. If he gets in office, I fear for the lives of disabled people in America just as much as I fear for them now.
