As a social movements scholar, I absolutely love the diversity of tactics being developed by each city, reflecting their local flavor

Portland kept it weird with inflatable costumes

Chicago protected its street vendors by buying up their food each day

Charlotte chased ICE agents into the woods

First platelet donation of 2026 in the bag!

Also hit the 18 donation mark last week to get on the plaque at my donation center for a second year. Just made it!

Nothing like having your home alarm go off at 3:30am to help your sleep patterns.

Looks like someone tried to get into the garage, but got spooked when they set off the alarm.

Kinda interesting: so I have talked to several kids under 12 from different parts of the US, and none of them were familiar with Pig-Latin. Which is a bit of a bummer since there's evidence it goes back to the 16th century or earlier. In general, there's almost no "kid-cant" familiarity.

Modern privilege problems: Nobody switches to just parking lights anymore when cruising around a heavily decorated neighborhood.

It’s just a long row of cars with ultra-bright headlights frying eyeballs and overpowering the holiday lights.

Weirdly difficult to find chocolate-covered marshmallow candies this holiday season.

Having one of those days of not feeling good enough. I’ll get through it, but personal resilience has been taking a heck of a beating lately.

Finally getting around to rebuilding my work portfolio and linking it to my Start.Me pages.

Just takes time to review what I’ve had saved, re-confirm there’s nothing confidential or proprietary, and add in some commentary about the various samples.

Been escaping into finishing off video games lately. 100% completed #Maneater 🦈, and now 100% achievement on #NeedForSpeed Heat 🏁.

If you can spare a few dollars, Requiem Cafe needs your help.

This is an important location to a lot of folks, both locally and via Discord, especially within the LGBTQ+ community. Their landlord isn’t upholding their part of the contract agreements

I used to like the 4th of July. Ignoring all the current political issues, my next-door neighbors fired off mortars for hours after extremely dry weather.

Instead of enjoying fireworks, I comfort my dogs, watch for falling embers, and get a pounding headache after hours of pressure blasts
