This past semester was the most stressful of my academic career. I had 180 students and about half cheated at some point in the semester

They submit weekly reflections where the questions are opinion-based, graded only on effort, don't care about grammar

SO MANY students submitted ChatGPT essays

ICE in Chicago detained two people (that we know of) for filming them today, a cyclist and a neighborhood rapid responder. This in addition to tear gassing another neighborhood and brandishing weapons at rapid response—both things that have also already been going on for weeks.

This is why I love Chicago ❤️

I wanted to be added to a rapid response team chat for my area and I couldn't be added. Because the platform limits groups to 1,000 people and it was already full

We keep us safe ✊️

There are a tremendous number of ICE watchers out in Rogers Park this afternoon after some early morning abductions.

People are guarding churches and patrolling alleyways. Ran into Alderperson Hadden. First timers tell us they're primed and ready to use their whistles.

Yeah, I thought it was real. I did A LOT of digging before I posted it yesterday (below). It really wasn't until I saw your thread + knowing about the fake reporter arrested by ICE videos that I started questioning it 😆 Then there were some folks with concerns on Reddit. But I'm back to believing

This happened earlier today (10/10). Bystanders in the video are yelling that ICE hit her car when they did a U-turn in the middle of the street in front of 1638 W Hubbard by Ashland

Yeah. I have the 4.5 min video, I posted part of it because it's just so long. I'm most confused by the fact the media hasn't picked up the story, and people have said the video(s) have been submitted. There's also just so many events like this now - maybe, like shootings, it's getting saturated?

Massive escalation at the Portland ICE facility. Worst I’ve ever seen. More pepper balls than I can count. Teargas in the middle of crowd. Violent arrests. Some type of either noise or rubber bullet shotgun fired into the air then later aimed at protesters chests/heads at near point blank range.

There's a Reddit post about it and one person said the black circle part that seems to come off her car is still in the street. I don't live far from the location and drive by it quite a bit. I might stop by as I'm now on the fence about the video

Thanks for investigating this! Two of the parked cars being the same is suspicious, though some of the others are different

A neighborhood group i'm in had a post about it - they shared close up plates of the red ICE car and the silver one. Guy also said he's been in contact with the family

Post text:

Ice just took 3 people in the 1600 block of west hubbard around 9:15. They took 2 laborers from a jobsite, hit a passing vehicle and pulled the occupant out and took her as well. She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. All well documented on various video. Just a heads up to everyone.

A 77 year old man sent a postcard to Florida Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia that simply read: “You lack values.”

Police showed up at his door.

This is not only a first amendment violation but a clear sign of how fast the fascists are moving to censorship and constant monitoring.

A classic case of irresponsible both-sidesism from the NYT. The story is that Trump and MAGA propagandists are lying about Portland to incite a conflict, not that there are different views of the matter.

Sharing again because this video isn't making the rounds like others have. Additional info from her cousin - this was in Chicago

So far, ICE always has an (fake) excuse for their behavior, but there's absolutely no justification for this

Seeing reports of ICE in Logan and Avondale today - be safe

A trend I’ve noticed after having watched too many of these despicable ICE arrest videos is when bystanders demand they let detainee go, an officer suggests they’re being picked up for a serious crime to try and deter help. But we know that’s not true of a vast majority of people and the jig is up.

They did kill a man and put a woman in the hospital after shooting her multiple times. Both times they flat out lied about what happened to make it the victims' faults. Luckily there was footage to contradict them

It's in Chicago. We did have that structure, we've just been eroding it for decades and then elected someone who was keen on destroying what was left. And the ones that have a duty to stop it are facilitating instead of hampering. Good times

I don't know who the woman is, but searched Reddit and found this comment pictured below. As far as where it was filmed, what type of info are you looking for? I have the address and cross street in the post

ICE abducted a WGN News video producer for *checks notes* videoing them? Which is legal

It's surreal having masked bandits roving our streets and violently abducting people every single day

No front license plate is a sign it could be ICE, along with dark tint - saw one in the wild Mon, be careful

There's a real disconnect between what we hear from @govpritzker.illinois.gov & other elected leaders about how we won't stand for ICE abducting people & Trump's delpoyment of the National Guard

&

what we see from local and state police as their treatment of protestors looks increasingly like ICE

It's good to see them protesting. UIC students don't always protest things they should, and they don't protest as much as I've seen from students at other schools I've taught at. Still being largely a commuter school probably plays a role in that. Plus, post-COVID lack of community
