Two things can be true: the killing of Charlie Kirk was wrong and it’s a tragedy for his family, and that he was a terrible person and the world as a whole is likely better off without his platform for bigotry and, frankly, immorality.

This is only true if by “ugliness” you mean “Republican nominees subject to Senate confirmation lying under oath because accurately describing their views makes them unpalatable to most people and they don’t want to get voted down”.

I keep drafting and discarding pithy and witty responses, but the fact of the matter is that “politician” and “government” are jobs that have always drawn threats. I wish it were only so in the most extreme cases, like disappearing people off the streets, but my daughter also wanted a pony.
