"Don't suspect a friend, report him"
U.S. citizen detained by ICE:

“…they finally told me that they could offer undocumented family members of mine legal protection if I have any…or money, in exchange for giving them the names of protest organizers, or undocumented persons. I was shocked, and told them no.”
just a reminder that we aren’t even seeing the worst of what is happening in Minneapolis from someone detailed at the Whipple Federal Building yesterday

I want to find the consultant who convinced Dems to stick with this framing, tie them to a stake, light a match, and tell everyone they have to decide between caring about saving them or caring about milk being 2% cheaper
The White House is laser focused on threatening a military takeover of Greenland.

Where’s the same focus on lowering costs?

Set out six months ago to investigative some dubious evictions. Ended up writing a sprawling story spread over 450 years about London property deals, the ethics of money lending, Tommy Robinson, Barbary pirates, Jacobean earls, and wealth in the capital. www.londoncentric.media/p/henry-smit...

If you only think about car clubs as a way of making money you may conclude they are “an evolutionary dead end”, but if you account for a fraction of the societal good (less congestion/parking stress) of reducing car use and ownership, you might instead conclude the model still has legs?

Nice to see all the drivers in central London going feral between Christmas and New Year's. Shouting "Helmet!" at random cyclists whilst mounting the pavement & driving towards people by 7 dials. Cab drivers going through "No Entry" signs to sneak wrong way through one-way systems in Covent Garden

Your usual reminder that the UCKG is an extraordinarily shady outfit. It is not clear what the money they collect is for or where it goes. They are collecting all over London today. Avoid.

If you regularly cycle on British roads you'll have come across aggressive, dangerous drivers like Paul Doyle who use their motor vehicles as weapons, the roads are full of them. Their behaviour is completely normalised until the day they run over 100 people

I was only watching him give a talk (streamed) at Gresham College on Monday! So very friendly and disarming, he was also showing us a few of his pictures that he couldn't publish.
RIP Martin Parr. What an amazing body of work he leaves us. Always had a lot of fondness for his photo of the shenanigans one evening at the Union Hotel, Manchester. 1974.
