“Now then, the story. I hope it’s over soon, I hope that this madness infesting, Mr. Conway, Mr. Patton, and yourself will end, I hope this abortive experiment is concluded…you’ve committed the most irresponsible error and judgment since Judas Iscariot. Let’s review each idiocy in its proper place.“

I love that game. It has a 100% payout, but I always break even.
What could be mistaken for a renaissance painting is actually a candid pic of our volunteers putting in hours of work to make sure our games work their best for our members and patrons during the upcoming holidays. 💪🏻🤩 We're so thankful for their support 🙏🏻Visit the 501c3 nonprofit PPM soon! 🙌🏻🤩⚪️

Ahahah. Yes. Y2K bug opinions.
One of the strangest aspects of aging that they don't warn you about is watching as history gets rewritten right in front of your face and people 20 years younger than you confidently tell you about something you lived through and get it completely wrong.

Starting with the first coin-operated games in 1931, the price for a game really hasn’t changed (adjusted for inflation)

1931 - 5¢ = $1.07
1947 - 5¢ = $0.73
1955 - 10¢ = $1.21
1965 - 10¢ = $1.03
1975 - 25¢ = $1.51
1985 - 25¢ = $0.75
1995 - 50¢ = $1.07
2005 - 50¢ = $0.83

Our coin-ops up front: $1

Taito is searching for a working Crown 602 crane game.

soranews24.com/2025/11/12/m...

I have to note that this was not the first crane game in Japan, and the design itself was based on an Italian model (see @cpi.pinball.horse):

Maker of Japan’s first crane machine is looking for a working model, offering 100,000-yen reward
Taito is also giving away free games to fans with personal memories of the Crown 602.

“If you hate someone, teach them about kerning.” - I can’t remember who said this, but it remains true.

Probable scam Instagram ad that is an unboxing video of a handheld gaming unit, but the video starts with this frame that I thought would be *much* different entertainment.

With the ongoing decline of the US, it’s a rare comfort that Jiffy muffin & cornbread mixes are still around and still ~$1-2 a box. Perfect to have a few boxes in your pantry for when you get a midnight muffin craving.

ADHD Meds: You’re not allowed to order a refill before you only have a few days of pills remaining.

Also ADHD Meds: We approved your refill but, because of the ongoing shortage, we won’t have them in stock for a week or two.

One of my best (worst?) recent bodge jobs is this monstrosity token guide for our SafeCracker. The width was created using double stick tape and some of our souvenir post cards. Then the channel is held in place with copious amounts of tape. It ain’t dumb if it works.

The thing with earthquakes is that you usually don’t know you’re having one until it’s almost over, so no use worrying about it. Especially in the SF bay area, you just keep it in the back of your mind and try to keep your house generally earthquake resistant (bookcases screwed to walls, etc…)

Trump on AI: "They're building their own electric utility plant. They become a utility if you think about it. They're building the utility & electric right alongside - this is where they have their transformers - they're building the most expensive electric plants you've ever seen. Some by nuclear."
