At the risk of being too aspirational, a government committed to setting incentives that creates a distributed energy sector like Australia is building absolutely makes enormous sense for NZ to me -

Videos like this are incredibly clear examples of the entitlement and sense of invincibility that people get from driving huge cars

Australia has had solar subsidies for so long that some of my Aussie colleagues are eligible for a second round of upgrades because it's been ten years.

NZ meanwhile, we can't have nice things. It might upset the status quo.

You can be a “car guy” and not like car dependency. You can be a “car guy” and get that too many cars in cities is bad for everyone, including drivers. You can be a “car guy” and be tired of lies & manipulations like “the war on cars.” You can be a “car guy” and know more choice means more freedom.

Oh my fucking god.

"In rejecting the advice to continue decreasing emissions after 2050, the government said: "It is our view that a detailed framework for post-2050 reductions and removals is best developed closer to 2050."" #nzpol
Government rejects all of Climate Change Commission's emissions target recommendations
It comes despite a Climate Change Commission warning that New Zealand is being hit sooner and more severely than expected.

I share S.I.T.'s pain. Where is the political party devoted entirely to doing exactly everything I want the way I want it to be done, because I obviously am the only person in AoNZ with the One True Vision For The Future.

The abuse Julie Fairey copped after being HIT BY A CAR is exactly what happens when we treat online harm as background noise. Women in politics bear the brunt, especially women of colour. Until NZ actually regulates platforms properly, this will keep happening #nzpol
