I'll bet most people on here had no idea that there was youth-led mass protest on Friday.

we need to take a moment to celebrate when a good thing happens. it is fuel for the work.

feel the joy. take a big breath in. let yourself cry.

we will win because we've got us.

A separate "block party" style blockade has popped up in a different part of town from the filter blockade at 34th and Cedar. People dancing, kids playing soccer, having fun while defending the neighborhood against ICE.

Twin Cities rapid responders have set up a "filter blockade" at 34th and Cedar and are calling for volunteers and donations. This is a new tactic developing over the last week: community is allowed to pass, but ICE agents are stopped/slowed before they can terrorize our neighbors.

You’re describing an emergency. The world is also watching you and waiting for you to do something.

Are you going to establish an eviction moratorium? Rent is due today.
They’re taking kids from Minnesota and sending them to detention camps. They’re shooting American citizens in the street and locking investigators out of the crime scenes. The world is watching what happens next.
Hundreds of people spelled out the distress signal "SOS" on Bde Maka Ska in Minneapolis on Friday, Jan. 30.

The people who are saying shit like "well it's either this or the borders are totally open" are doing their best to convince America that we should have completely open borders.

We can’t let extremists steal the kids’ innocence. Let them play and enjoy their childhood.

i literally can’t understand how rich people keep their money. giving people money they need to stay fed and housed is the most amazing feeling.

i wish everyone of you that have donated got to experience the gratitude of the people you are helping.

if you feel like passing around a link today and helping fundraise for rent that will actually get paid today (and in the next few days for families who have a grace period) you can send here.

we will be going hard all day. i won’t be posting about it because I don’t want to flood your feeds.

Update on dealing with life shit - the amount of people shopping at Costco for mutual aid donations gave my heart that little bit of sparkle it needed to keep going today. One day at a time everyone 🫶🏻
And it’s really hard to deal with life shit in the middle of *waves hands around*
Apparently when you have to spend a bunch of your weekday dealing with ICE bullshit, you have to spend your weekends trying to put your life at home back together, while also still dealing with ICE bullshit.

Don’t forget they stalk the bus stops. Full of children. Every. Single. Morning. And. Every. Single. Afternoon.
NEW: School hallways are silent. Grandparents patrol outside in shifts. Two more kids taken from Liam Ramos' school.

Trump isn't deescalating ICE at all at MN schools.

Can confirm. Nothing has changed on the ground. ICE still attacking people, kidnapping, all that stuff—and the city is still out protecting and helping neighbors
Absolutely surreal to continue to hear about drawdowns and lowered temperatures and things calming down in Minneapolis when, as far as I can tell, literally nothing has changed on the ground

I would never post about the most beautiful things I’ve seen in Minnesota because protecting the vulnerable and everyone supporting them is the most important thing.

But believe me when I say that my faith in humanity is restored—and that’s a wild thing to say surrounded by so much violence.
