Bezos isn't destroying the Washington Post because it isn't profitable. He's destroying the Washington Post because he's calculated that a robust free press threatens the ability of his class to warp society around their interests

I do not need politicians to repeat slogans like "trans women are women" or whatever. I need politicians to defend trans people's right to participate in society free from discrimination and fight against policies meant to push us out.

You probably don't know what SEQRA is - but you should know that it's slowing down the housing that we need. Deputy Mayor Leila Bozorg is here to explain why reforming it is key to cutting red tape and building more housing.

elected democrats who want their constituents to remain non-violent in their protests of these abuses must actually offer a path for ending the abuses non-violently. they currently are not as a party and it’s a major problem.
🚨WHOA. The El Paso Medical Examiner says it will rule the death of a 55-year-old Cuban man at ICE's "Camp East Montana" tent camp as a homicide.

He was allegedly choked to death by a guard during a "struggle" after he refused to enter a housing unit without his medications.

If calling a state secret police agent a murderer for committing murder will lead to more murder by the state secret police, it sure seems like the problem is with the secret police
Homan: "We gotta stop the hateful rhetoric. Saying this officer is a murderer is dangerous. It's just ridiculous. It's gonna infuriate people more which means there's gonna be more incidents like this."

not sure how you can expect to have any credibility if your response to murder by federal agents is arresting protestors and telling them the police are on their side. the democrats like to think their role is to be a heat sink for liberal and leftist anger but eventually that's gonna stop working

Prison guards are flocking to ICE jobs and frankly this makes sense. Those of us who have been anti-prison organizers for decades have been saying that fascism already existed within prisons/jails. Our best teachers for how to survive fascism are incarcerated people.

I think the contradiction at the core of liberalism is pretty well illustrated by saying that it’s time to defend democracy like our life depends on it—but to do it in a way that is perfectly orderly and respectful of the law enforcement officers assaulting it

I think one reason we haven't seen local or state police told to arrest ICE (et al) agents on charges of murder or attempted murder is because it's not clear whether police would comply. Political leaders may or may not actually be in charge of law enforcement; they don't want to test it.

The first thing cops say after an incident is always a lie.
Black folk will tell you: The 1st thing cops say after an incident is always a lie.🤷🏿‍♂️

They lie because there's upside in it for them, and no downside.

No matter how many times they get caught lying, newspapers will print their next lie as the gospel truth.🤡

And people stop caring before truth hits
ICE lied about the person it shot, claiming he was a "criminal," but NBC finds that he had no criminal history whatsoever. Not even traffic tickets in 12 years! It also lied about the extent of the injuries to its agents....
