Couldn't wait till release to share a tiny chunk of @smuggerby.bsky.social 's super cool album art for one of Angeline Era's OST volumes!! Unreal level of detail and it really captures the dark side of the game's characters. Really bumpslashed it out of the park on this one!

Finished dq1, I like the funny moments and jokes, the way a lot of it comes down to figuring out safe grinding spots in the overworld, its openness, the minimal but expressive levels, how you always start at the castle. (But .. )

I Want To Do It
With the collapse of AAA games on the horizon for is time for the Sorcerian-like to return. Give me four little guys to make stand in a tidy line and go on modular adventures to pulsing synth rock. Give me a thousand options for jobs they can take during down time. Don’t worry about if it’s “good”

I think the most mature thing famous 90s game companies could do is make space for others by ending corporatized spinoffs/remakes. pokemon...Mario... dragon quest etc. the world needs art& entertainment from new people, not brand names that have gone way past their prime
I secretly think that about ALL the “classic” franchises clogging up the cultural broadband these days.
Have they thought of not making any more Bond films

Vertex colors are crucial to Angeline Era's unique, low-poly art style!

Much of the game's cube-based artwork is actually black and white. We then use a color palette system to create most of the game's vivid forests and towns!🌲

Was there ever a post dark souls 3d action-adventure-rpg-dungeon crawly game that committed as much to no fast travel as ds1 did? Feel like that was the cornerstone of its design (via dungeon crawlers) but everyone (dark souls' 2nd half included!) moved away from the idea.

This made me think that back in the days of console/PC upgrades every new gen would break everyone's tooling, forcing more people to design a bit more from first principles than just iterating on a millionaires YouTube game design video

If you're in the games industry (of any experience or participation level) consider volunteering to be a judge next fall! You get to play a lot of games and it's one of the better award shows out there.
once IGF ends I like to make various charts around voting b/c I find it interesting

p sure I'm not allowed to post them but I will say it's p cool to me that IGF had 800 games submitted this year and of all those games, slightly more than 50% of them received at least one vote in an award category
