One of the really nice things about Bluesky (as opposed to, say, Facebook) is that I can stop scrolling and enjoy a video like this without having to spend the next week having similar videos dominating my TL. It's a real relief to feel free to just look.
this is mesmerizing

Wizened Millennials sneering at Gen Alpha: I told you the old ways are best

(Gen X, petting its moldering set of the 1983 World Book Encyclopedia: Soon. Soon.)
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

Seeing a lot of cherce quotes from the dissent in the Texas gerrymander case. Anyone have a link to the whole thing? (Or am I better off without it?)

The MBTA’s real-time bus location system is down, which isn’t great when you take a bus that comes infrequently and somewhat unreliably @mbta.com

there used to be a roast beef joint in downtown Boston bang up against the wall of the county jail where they infamously imprisoned Malcolm X and folks when I say Boston has changed what I mean is not only is the roast beef joint gone but now the jail's a luxury hotel

It has always been so obvious that the backlash to MeToo isn’t about whether the abuse is happening but whether people are allowed to want it to stop

this is an obvious overcorrection that misleads the polling data and will lead to disaster in the Heartland. the results of tonight show that the Democrats should moderate: adopting two or at most three of the five pillars of Islam
if democrats are serious about winning they need to learn from tonight and convert to islam

Fondly remembering a Halloween a few years ago where one neighbor ladled out cups of hot cider, plus a glug of brandy for the grownups.

Massachusetts friends: spread the world around!
In MA, folks enrolled in SNAP who have active EBT cards with at least a $1 balance will still be able to access fresh produce with their cards through the Healthy Incentives Program. That funding doesn't go away Nov. 1, when SNAP does. www.mass.gov/info-details...

All of the Clinton-era conservative pearl clutching about the sanctity of the White House and the Democrats’ disrespect seems like it’s from another world now.

There was a whole scandal because Al Gore made fundraising calls from inside the building. They investigated the Clintons’ cat!
I'm old enough to remember when Republicans claimed to believe that the White House was such sacred space that getting a blow job in the Oval Office was grounds to remove a president from office.
