"The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels...every time we think we have measured our capacity to meet a challenge, we look up and we're reminded that that capacity may well be limitless."

Powerful words of solace that transcend borders.

To paraphrase: This is a time for Australian heroes.

This is funny, but it’s also illustrative of the split between actual reporters, and people like Weiss and Goldberg who are pure commentators. They really don’t understand what journalists do.
"I think Bari Weiss deserves the benefit of the doubt."

This is what Bari Weiss et al think "censorship" actually is; when subordinates criticize their superiors. That has been the bedrock of the entire "cancel culture" discourse in elite media; rage at the idea that students, women, journalists, interns, etc might be able to speak against the boss.
The CBS reporter who led the story calls pulling it a "political" decision.
"The decision was made after Bari Weiss, the new editor in chief of CBS News, requested numerous changes to the segment."

At some point very soon, all of the people who make 60 Minutes are going to have to decide where their personal line is.

Globalisation gave us one of the world's greatest fried snack - the Malaysian Curry Puff. (I lived in KL as a kid and I am still utterly obsessed with them.)
According to Wikipedia, the curry puff, which we love in our region, may be due to globalizing the empanada.

"the snack is believed to have developed in maritime Southeast Asia due in part to the various influences of the British Cornish pasty, the Portuguese empanada and the South Asian samosa"

What do we want? - "Social cohesion!"

When do we want it? - "Just after we finish booing our political opponents at a memorial service!"

That one might need a bit more work.

In the summer of 1950 most US newspapers ran an AP story about how race had become the main issue in the upcoming Georgia governor's race. Segregationist Herman Tallmadge, governor from '47 to '55 and then a Senator until 1981 made a name for himself by refusing to "apologize for being a white man."
