I am watching what is happening in Minneapolis on Ali Velshi and one of the ICE officers (off camera) literally says, “It’s like Call of Duty. Pretty cool huh?” as they shoot whatever it is they are shooting. Agents walking around, guns unholstered for no reason. This is insanity

Flashbangs burn hotter then lava.

They've caused serious burns, severed hands, and even killed.

*That's* what ICE just tossed into a car full of kids.

I have a long-running list of surprising eponyms, and in this dark time I wish to share my amusement with you.

To clarify, an eponym is something named for a person. “Newton’s Laws” are called that for Isaac Newton. A surprising eponym is just that.

So, let’s begin.

Please do give it a read: it’s the story of how the White House is leading a global crackdown on news outlets and disinfo research.
Delighted this piece is now live on @theverge.com: I've spent months investigating how a supposed war against the "censorship-industrial complex" has been used by the US right to wage war against misinformation research – and free speech itself – across the world. Please do give it a read.

More from our story on FDA:
—Officials have held meetings at the WH this week to discuss turmoil at agency

The top drug regulator abruptly resigned. Staff complaints piled up. Outside experts warned FDA was in trouble.

That was a month ago, prompting urgent meetings. Leaders soon claimed problems were fixed.

Then it all happened again in the past week.

This seems like the most straightforward and also basically accurate message.
instead of saying this was good strategy, maybe senate dems should say: "the republicans were going to kill people by starving them to death, and because we aren't monsters, we decided to let this fight go. We'll keep fighting. Stop electing monsters."

My response to the NYT’s “moderate to win” argument: The data shows the strategy is tapped out. Being seen as moderate by voters doesn’t boost votes, replacing every progressive with moderates would net 0 seats, and the graveyard of defeated D incumbents if full of moderates, not progressives.
The New York Times Argues “Moving to the Center Is the Way to Win.” But the Data Shows the Strategy Is Tapped Out.
Democrats already run moderates in nearly every swing district. It's not enough. A data-driven response to the case for centrism as a core electoral strategy.
