All I want for Christmas is…a painting of a mouse riding a lobster.

Christmas cards during the Victorian Era tended to be rather unusual, reflecting an offbeat sense of humor before Christmas iconography had solidified into what it is today.

Let’s shake this tree down. 🧵⬇️

When people ride on the sidewalk it's because it feels more appropriate than the alternatives available.

Engineering solutions are always more effective than regulatory.
Toronto councillors want e-bikes, e-scooters off the sidewalk. Now, staff just need to figure out how to make it happen
A bid to help police impound electric scooters and bikes was softened Wednesday night. Now city staff can propose their own solutions.

this is literally the best thing Spirit has ever done
While Spirit fights for its survival, it has found some time (and money) to deck out A320neo N628NK in a holiday sweater livery.

Nice.

someone tell the California ACLU who is disproportionately more likely to be killed in traffic accidents including those involving people under the influence
The California ACLU is staunchly opposed to the ignition interlock device program and is a big reason that it has not been expanded. Despite the fact that California heavily subsidizes the cost for low-income drunk drivers, the ACLU says that the program is a form of "racialized wealth extraction."

There robust and objective statistical evidence that removing a lane, adding a speed camera, or installing a signaled crosswalk will save lives. And in poor, disadvantaged neighborhoods the lives save will likely be poor, disadvantaged children. But think of the dangerous drivers in that community!

Yeah I’m sorry, but this is indefensible and is *exactly* the kind of shit that people are talking about when they talk about non-profit/activist brainworms. And it’s causing real harm here! Minorities are more likely to be victims of drunk drivers as well!

the #BikeBus shows how safety in numbers gives kids the chance to ride, learn, and build confidence on streets that would not feel safe alone. Protected bike lanes, diverters, and street designs that separate children from cars are what make this joy possible every day, not just on Bike Bus days.

I can sympathize with some surveillance-related qualms about traffic cameras but I have a very hard time believing that morally they outweigh the enormous reduction of death and injuries they engender
After NYC installed 2,000 speed cameras, crashes fell 30% and injuries 16%.

Fact: When the plane gets raised to 30 metres, our crane then spins around rapidly until it reaches launch velocity and we cut the rope. This saves up to 65% of the fuel normally used in a conventional take off.
