I feel it's kind of rude to be shooting a music video in front of a live audience? but at the same time this slaps.

SHE’S FINISHED! My 5-foot-long Enterprise D oil painting is complete after nearly 100 hours of work!

I remember being 13 years old or so and trying to draw her and it was so hard, and all I wanted was to be able to do something like this. Truly a dream come true. 🥰🖖

I really want to keep developing this dragon theme.
Can I get a couple extra dozen hours in a day, please?🥲

The Guardian: here’s how Substack makes money hosting Nazi newsletters. These newsletters weren’t even hard to find or subtle: swastikas and in-app recommendations from one antisemitic newsletter to a bunch of others. [theguardian.com]

BTW - Proton Drive has worked really well for me so far! Quick uploads & downloads, and my vids in MP4 stream just fine for me and others who have tested. And yes, it's a paid service, but that comes with guarantees of privacy, which I think is worth it.

My favorite artifact in the "you don't need AI to do art" discourse is, of course, screenwriter Dan O'Bannon's sketch of the facehugger to explain it to Giger.

Exploration. Discovery. Danger. A Steerswoman goes where she must.

The Steerswoman book series doesn't have a TV show or movies (yet?) so I put this together from other sources! Highly recommend the books - they're a lot of fun!

Embarrassing to see adults talk to robots in a public forum. That'd be like if your friend asked a mailbox for directions once. You'd roast him for decades for that shit. Every time the concept of navigating space came up you'd hit him with "Why don't you ask the mailbox?"

You know that thing where the farther something is, the smaller it looks? That doesn’t quite work in an expanding universe. It’s true for a while but after a certain point, more distant things (of the same size) start to look BIGGER because their light has been traveling since the cosmos was small 🙃

Democratizing the arts looks like universal income, low-barrier grants for both emerging and working artists, well-funded municipal arts & recreation programs, vibrant third spaces, and a well-funded public school system with progressive curriculum.

Not a free pass for corporate-owned slop engines.
Every instance of "AI democratizes the arts, you're classist and ableist and a gatekeeper for trying to stop it" is a slap in the face to the literally centuries of poor, disabled people making art on the margins and a crass lie in service of a machine that strips down and regurgitates dreams
