This is very good and a great reminder to myself to stop appointing myself lord adjudicator of politics-as-horse-races and focus on what I’m doing.

A very good piece on how we all act like pundits now, but we don't have to! (h/t @ninametz.bsky.social )

"What bizarre collective behavior. I’m implicating myself here by the way. I too have been guilty of treating group chats like I’m a member of some tiresome CNN panel & I need to urgently fact check Van Jones for the sake of the Republic."

“When did giving abstract advice about what a political party should or shouldn’t do become an acceptable discursive trope?”

Thinking about how during the last few elections we were inundated with news about polling, as if we should vote based on whom other people support, and not simply vote according to our own interests

The thing I"m always saying about the Epstein scandal, a case study in the rot at the heart of capitalism and power and patriarchy, is that New York isn't just a setting... it's almost, like, a character!
Seriously, what is wrong with these people?

Gen Z, everything is forgiven. You're allowed to call the rest of us cringe whenever you want
Those claiming Dems should retreat on racial justice aren't hard-headed realists, they're pushing against the electoral tide rather than leaning into it. The story of Gen Z isn't about racist backlash or red-pilled young men. It's the most racially progressive generation in American history. 🧵

Hi, Secretary Buttigieg, just one follow up question-- would you mind just laying out really quickly which Americans specifically you consider to be the "everyday" ones and which ones you feel "have identities?"
Speaking at a Texas Tribune Festival on Friday, former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg criticized the Democratic Party for failing to reach everyday Americans, arguing that it “got sucked in” to a conversation about identity. #TribFest25
Pete Buttigieg critiques Democrats for focus on identity
The former U.S. transportation secretary said the Democratic Party should focus more on issues gripping the country, such as health care and housing affordability.

Be bold in your vision and actions.
Speak plainly and tell the truth.
Show up in real, authentic ways.
Get to know folks.
And fight like hell for them.

It’s really not that complicated.

Not for nothing, but while I am sadly unable to have an undisclosed affair with RFK Jr. while covering his campaign (great work if you can get it, though!) I am VERY WILLING to be filmed in black and white while driving a convertible, so if that's all it takes NYTimes, my DMs are open!!

I hope that we build a world where our children and grandchildren ask "wait, how did you let men like that run everything, forever?" b/c it will be unthinkable.

Hey all, I need a writing tip. Let's say I'm emailing my good friend, noted demon Jeffrey Epstein, and I'm complaining about how the real victims are men accused of sexual harassment. What's a cool way to sign off that message? Ideally, I want to give off the vibe that I too am a sweaty sex pest.

I try to sound measured about this but I actually want to scream in a lot of people's faces. The mayor is deliberately ignoring so many experts to appeal to the barely concealed libidinal cruelty of business dorks and it's so fucking cowardly and awful and BUMBLINGLY INEFFECTIVE AND SELF-DEFEATING
Sweeps are violence and it really is that simple. If you live in Portland and have a heart in your body please take the time to testify in person/zoom tomorrow or in writing and ask our city council to reroute money away from sweeps, which do not reduce homelessness. www.portland.gov/council-cler...

You know what they say about leverage! When you have it, you should use it for just a bit, fail to get what you want, and cave at an entirely arbitrary moment!

Moving into the midterm cycle, a simple request to not tell hundreds of millions of Americans that we don't deserve candidates who actually excite us because we don't live in one of five cities on the coasts.

Wherever you live, you deserve to fall in love with a candidate for a change
A few thoughts, in advance of an insufferable wave of discourse about "what kind of Democrats can win in what kind of places"
