This gorgeous heron is what is being described as “melanistic.” It’s not AI. They thought at first that it might have oil on it but it’s just black as opposed to the usual blue. #birds #heron #wildlife

Welcome new Bluesky users! You might be wondering what this thing is. It’s called the Omega Moth and we believe that at the end of days, when Earth is a lifeless cinder, the moth will wrap the planet in a cocoon so it can be reborn anew

Also, congratulations everyone who made something this year. A comic, a song, a film, a novel, a painting, a poem, a short story, a sculpture, crochet, embroidery, whatever it is. In this era of slop and theft, if you *make* something you are a shining jewel and I am so grateful for you.

People in Southern BC need to get ready for flooding.

The rain forecast NEXT week is alarming, even for Victoria.

If it holds up, it may cause destructive flooding in parts of BC, especially in the chicken-producing Fraser Valley on the Mainland.

(You’d be wise to stock up on eggs too.)
