Any boots are winter boots if you are stubborn enough.
I’ve been out shoveling in my Docs, so I guess it’s time to repost this.

Oh look, it's another article in Wired about using LLMs to design nuclear weapons. Written by the same guy as the last article.

And once again: the design is not the hard part! Do you have a library card? Access to a search engine? Congratulations, you can find out how to design one — no AI needed.

I love how much NEC's industrial design in the late '80s was basically just "OK, so we've got this modular CD-ROM unit…"

I'd just like to note that the Comics Code Authority in 1983 was less uptight about language than a modern Tom King "mature readers" book.

I recall seeing a picture of a store that bundled 13 copies together for 100 yen and labeled it "Golf-o 13".

#RandomGameSaturday Golf

There were golf games before this, but Nintendo's was the first one that played well. It helped define how all golf games should play going forward.

If you've ever played a golf video game made after 1984, you have HAL Labs, Satorou Iwata, and Nintendo's Golf to thank.

I just noticed the description at the bottom is "Mesopotamia didn't have this bul[lshit]"

And oh boy… Sumer had 2 basic forms of currency: bushels of barley and silver rings. Sure, you could use other things — cattle & axe heads were popular — but their worth was enumerated in silver.

In addition to being hopelessly outdated, Thomson and Thompson are wearing dragon rank badges — which, during the previous Qing era their costumes are from, would have signified that the wearers were members of the imperial bloodline.

"I'll just walk in the direction of travel & check the app whenever I pass a stop" often results in arriving on foot.
Let's see.

The 504D streetcar being replaced by a bus. Nowhere in site. Can walk up to 505 Dundas and hope that is on time, or take any bus or streetcar that happens to come one stop across the DVP and walk 35 minutes (and be 10 minutes late.

The TTC is basically semi-organized hitchhiking.

It's been observed before that 90% of posts on social media are made by 10% of posters

A corollary to this is that 90% of bad posts are made by a mere 10% of bad posters

How To Talk To Your Family About Whether There Is A Shapeshifting Alien Monstrosity Among Us Thanksgiving
No. The Thing is a movie about a bunch of people who all distrust and hate each other trapped in one building as the tension between them slowly builds until it reaches a breaking point. It's a Thanksgiving movie.
Should John Carpenter's THE THING be officially classified as a Christmas movie? Let your voice be heard!
