what do you MEAN y’all only read one book at a time
Left the novel I'm in the middle of at a friend's house... Which is a problem because today is a "snuggle up in bed early with a hot water bottle and a good book" evening. So I'm doing an extremely risky thing and... Starting to read... Another book... Despite being halfway through one already.

Ah the 1970s.

Stagflation, three day weeks, collapsing infrastructure. Civil War in Northern Ireland. In yer face racism and bigotry everywhere. Bin strikes. Strikes in general. Blackouts. Industrial decline. Wage inequality. Dog crap everywhere. And households spent 25% of their income on food.

Vinted is maddening; each listing could be one of three sizes and I have no idea which unless the seller has added it in the free text or photographed the label. Complete enshittification.

I feel this so deeply. I’m one of those folks who desperately wants a house, but why do I want to sacrifice our beautiful natural environment so developers can build more houses that I have to rent but can’t afford to buy? The only winners are the developers/investors.
The Government can keep shouting. It's talking to itself.

The YIMBY-NIMBY divide exists only in Westminster's echo chamber.

Meanwhile, the public have made themselves clear. They want homes that work with nature, and leaders who listen.

They do warn you that it can be painful to have the coil fitted. What they don’t tell you is that it’s equally painful if you cannot have it fitted. THE PAIN I AM IN AND IT DIDN’T EVEN GET DONE.

I’m livid with my endless bad luck right now.

I don’t have enough knowledge to comment on rent control, but what I do know is:
✅ I have a decent income
✅ I pay more than a mortgage to live in my house
✅ I still can’t get a mortgage

Needing multiple streams of income to stay afloat is a societal failure not a personal one. You should be able to afford a comfortable lifestyle with one job. You are not lazy.

KPop Demon Hunters is a brilliant film, but it’s also lovely seeing its voice actors, songwriters, and singers become stars after years of struggling in the industry

It’s pretty bonkers this is not a real band, and EJAE (lead vocals) hadn’t performed in a decade until this

Again there is no money for a postal service that works, for railways, buses, for libraries, for housing, for your collapsing council, for care, for paying civil servants, for the NHS.

There are billions for tech firms for a OPTIONAL ID card for British Citizens.
